So a twitter handle that I want to use is taken but has been inactive since 2012. Is there anyway I can get that name?

Seriously? Where can I read more info about it? Twitter gives you that user by default if give TM prooF?Register a trademark and you'll get it easily.

Depends - if you have a trademark and the person is using your trademarked name and purporting to be similar themed to the industry your company/trademark applies to, they might give it to you. This really only applies if your trademark is older than the account, and you can rationally prove that the username infringes your trademark - btw this is harder than it sounds.

we have done this without a trademark. I highly doubt you will apply and get approved for a trademark unless you are starting a legit business and not just another online money site. Twitter has a policy to deactivate an account without 6+ months of activity. We had someone using our clients brand name that was inactive for years (since 2008). We applied for a consideration on their site. It was denied BUT here is the trick, then you have access to resubmit that ticket and say you need it since the account is inactive. They will then either release the account name or apply it to your current account name. Thats it!
