Need help monetizing viral traffic

Monetizing 40k unique views with only Adsense, is indeed not the best method to earn well.
Why don't you try, since you own a popular viral website, CPA related lockers.
In case you own a viral video site:
Step 1: people (40k unique viewers) will click at your site to watch the video they want/searched for
Step 2: A locker (maybe you already own a social locker) will pop-up and people will share/tweet/whatever to continue
Step 3: (or Step 2 if you don't like Step 2) a CPA locker will show when people want to view the video or view it longer than *amount of sec here*
Step 4: Thanks to Adsense you'll get paid per click at your advertisements and thanks to CPA you'll get between $0,05 - $25 per lead (from India with $0,05 to Switzerland with $25 per lead)
If ONLY 10% will click at the offers and 10% of those people will actually fill in a survey, that will be around 400 leads from 40k unique viewers. 400 leads x $1,50 (maybe when you target USA it's about $1.70 per lead) = $600 per month extra (when everything goes as planned in my example).
You could also build an email list from those viewers and start with email marketing combined with Clickbank maybe?

Your figures are way too high. This kind of traffic doesn't convert that much with social traffic.
OP, signup with Taboola, they provide good content for viral sites.

Don't bother monetizing the site until you at least get 10x the amount of visitors you get now. Focus first on the traffic. Even 10x your current numbers is quite small, so hopefully you forget about trying to make money until a few months from now after you've figured out a way to grow the site. It's better to make nothing and then suddenly one day make a couple hundred dollars a day then to tease yourself with a measly $100-500 per month. Create social media accounts possibly to get more traffic to the site. It's going to be a long journey but in the end it'll be worth it.

The only option which is perfect would be adsense and you can earn good.
