Do YouTube dislikes work to suppress ranking?

Simple question, seeking simple answer. Do dislikes work or not?

To be exact, No. It may affect rankings but not too much and sometimes it won't even affect the rankings at all.

I have done some case studies myself and they actually showed the opposite that a dislike helps with YouTube SEO and pushes you higher in the rankings.

I know this example has more to do with watch time but go on youtube and search "baby" im guessing the top result is 75% dislikes.

Yes. Let me give you a real example[I just found a video for that]: It has around 320 likes and 750 dislikes and still it's ranking higher than videos with more likes.
