Amazon Affiliate banned

ok I got a word back from Amazon.

The mail was that support representative that I contacted made them revise the website and they found more original content than they originally percieved. So my website is Amazon Affiliate again, thanks to Amazon support.

My thoughts about this:
I think they for some reason quickly reviewed a review or two and thought that was a whole site. My intuition is that they then thought that a website with just 2-3 pages is there to hunt easy Amazon money with spamming the internet and blackhat methods or something like that. Although they might be thinking something about reselling according to the mail, not sure. When they saw that site actually had much more content, they then reapproved me. Meybe I am wrong, who knows. But I am pretty sure they had to miss majority of the content on my website, since it is enough of it and it is original. At least this is the feeling I got from the conversation with representative.

In general, I am glad to be back in business and that everything was resolved thanks to their support service.

But, another thing gives me food for thought about the whole business strategy of all the affiliates. He said, as I mentioned in previous posts is that Amazon can reject you from their program if they think your content is not quality enough. Imagine, sometime in the future they can decide to be more strickt on content of the affiliates and decide that your content is not quality enough, not enough personal, etc. and simply reject you after you have been their affiliate for a while. And take all your current earnings with them! Amazon affiliate sites are big player's bitches - dependent completely on Google and Amazon. One of them changes their policy and you are out of business... Even if you have multiple sites, if you used same methods, your business is based on weak formations. This is not anything new, but worth considering if your income depends entirely on niche affiliate websites.

I will gladly remain their affiliate, but I guess I should be cautious about their possible policy changes...

Great news. Good for you! If you have already made a sale then you're good to go. If you haven't then they give like 90 days to make a sale, if this is the case, after you make your first sale your website will be reviewed again, so you may want to add some more original content.

OP amazon din't say you copied any site just that it wasn't unique, meaning your content doesn't stand out from the rest of the sites in the niche, you may have written it your self, but if it essentially says the same as the rest, amazon doesn't belive it will rank high in search engines( shows how much they know about seo or the fact that traffic can come from other places).
As it has already been suggested just aply again with a new site, little bit of advice though, see if you can get your site ranking on page 1 in google before aplying, at least then they would have to come up with a diffrent answer. couse honestly I think that message they send you is a little to vague.

I think this was their thinking, yeah :)

Hey,
Today I recieved this message from Amazon:

Now I do not get it. I wrote all the content by myself, so it is unique. My site was 2 months old and got one sale. I reviewed some items I have never seen being reviewed elsewhere. I guess my affiliate account is closed for good. What can I do? Can somebody tell me how can I at least ask them to tell me which sites have I supposedly copied? Since I really have no idea what could be similar. Where can I go with questions?

P.s.: I had to remove linking in the Amazon site that was in mail - that is what [] stand for

Man, that's still more information than they gave me when I have been banned in the past. New accounts are treated super suspiciously, it seems.

hmmm , seems like they started to screen sites after first sale registered ... that's kinda bad for new affiliates who come and jump on them ...

They are all over the new guys. Established accounts with a good Amazon history fare much better.

There are so many really bad affiliate websites out there (no reference to the OP) that I'm not surprised that they started doing it. I can only imagine that the entry level bar will be set higher and higher.

I think your Wordpress theme had played a major part in their previous decision. First thing came to my mind when I open the site is one of my MFA sites I had years ago in early days of Adsense. Its responsive theme but if someone just look at the site without checking all content it look like one of those low quality cookie cutter sites. Your content is not bad at all. I have sites with less quality content which doing good but I'm using premium looking themes with lots of nice widgets and things.

This is what I thought yesterday when I saw the time but now I'm sure they have just glanced over and decided it's a crappy site. It's a good thing you talked to good Amazon rep and they took another look at your site. So you are back in game. :)

Thanks Bluearrow to have a look at my site. I guess I should change the theme or something. I realize now that I should pay more attention to the theme.

Do you advise me to change it?

This is the first time I've ever heard Amazon banning any affiliate. I think Amazon is the most trustworthy affiliate program as compared to Adsense and other Affiliate Networks which are known for shaving commissions and not paying to affiliates.

I hope it gets sorted out! Keep us updated.

"it looks like amazon shut down a popular ad product to stop companies like google getting access to its data" I just read that on my morning news... can somebody comfirm,,, maybe thats why op got banned

Oh yeah change that as soon as possible. It doesn't have to be an expensive premium theme or fancy one. There are plenty of nice free themes these days. Also remove all these spammy looking widgets from rightside bar. You don't need Archives, Recent comments etc.

Great news! Sometimes it just takes a lot of back and forth to get shit accomplished. Seems a lot like FB. Getting harder and harder everyday unless you know the right people ;)

What do you think about changing your affiliate program?? Affiliate marketing is a huge ability to earn money))) As for me I prefer working with Aliexpress affiliate! Have you heard about it?? Download a free guide from Alipartnership and learn how to make money with Aliexpress Affiliate.

Amazon is a mafia... They banned our account for "fake clicks"... wTF???? They are not paying for clicks. Why anyone would be interested to fake it???

Anyway we are glad they did. We are doing much better with other opportunities. Failure could be a sign that you have to try something else.

Google "the dark side of amazon"- you'll see they are steeling a lot from affiliates with their cookies policies
