hekke's Amazon Affiliate Journey

UPDATE
Hey, it's been a while since I updated. I got a small update before I come home and that is about the content production on both sites. I have decided to hire 2 writers for each site to make content for the sites I think that I need to push out more content on both sites before I see some real results. I'll also need to build some links for both of my sites but I feel like I want the site to be filled with more (and better) quality articles.

I will find a handful of writers specified in the niche I am in and send them each a trial article to make. If they qualify, I will give them 1-2 articles per day to write for me. I'll be able to pump out content unlike any of my competitors and I can grab links from some great authority sites in my niche.

I am home tomorrow, so my goal is to find a few writers per then and assign them their first articles. I'll update you once I've found the right ones. :) A package of 50 web 2.0's should be put on BLUE soon enough as well. I think it will get a great positive push by just a few links so that'll be exciting.

Until next time,
hekke

Hey hekke, can you twll, where you ordered web 2.0 sites? I'm looking also to order a few for few of my sites, but don't know which one to choose.

I use 7thamigo's web 2.0 service. :)

Thanks hekke, then i should be going. i found 2 products that are really worth reviewing.
http://demo.wpzoom.com/?theme=discovery
is this theme worth the price? personally, i like it. it looks simple and attractive.
are you working on YouTube, too? :)
Looks like the theme pickashaver.com uses. It looks good.
No, I don't drive traffic via YouTube at all actually. I use it as a link-building technique but I don't really get a considerable amount of traffic from it to count it as a traffic source. You can for sure bank good with YouTube, I prefer having a more reliable source of traffic though as competitors easily can flag your video.

ah yes and can you pls respond to pm i wrote you regarding writers ? and if i don't disturb you, can you post here or PM me examples of great-built Amazon Affilate websites.

Oh yeah, I run a YouTube network on the site of this. :)

I cannot disclose my writers as I want to keep them for myself, so that they can continue to provide their great TAT - I've switched writers since last time though. Regarding your question about well-built niche sites, just search "Best Toasters", "Best Microwaves", "Best Sewing Machines" and so on. Look at the top 3 websites and you'll see plenty of well-built Amazon sites.

Best of luck with your sites and congrats on that YouTube success! :)

not quite success now, i'm doing Black Hat and it needs effort every day, and it is devastating me :). plus, summer is a dead-season. revenue is half of what it should be. but if i'll succeed in these i'll forget about YouTube , forever. that's what i like about amazon, you can earn in long terms, but it's a long shot compared to YouTube and CPA, too..

yes i understand :) it's ok, i'll try to find some myself. and thanks for tip, it's a shame i could not guess that myself.

Good luck, again, to you :)

Thanks!

Have you also used this in the past? If yes, probably the results are good, right?
Yes, I've used it 3 times. Just use it to get the site up somewhere so that I can guesstimate how much off-page SEO effort is required to rank first. Age matters a lot in todays rankings so sometimes an aged site with just a few web 2.0's can rank first - that's what my main site does.

You can of course do your web 2.0's yourself, but when the price is a dollar per web 2.0, I think it is more worth just outsourcing it. Depends on your budget and how much time you got on your hands. Personally, I got school for 6-8 hours per day so I like to outsource most tasks. I even outsource the comparison chart building, heh :)

As there is no SEO formula that works for every niche, you'll need to try and work from the results you receive from certain services/backlinking strategies. So be patient, keep building links slowly but surely and you should receive some great results! :)

Hi hekke, one of great jorney with great potential.
My favorite journey was dragiaa's but i think he dont have time for his journey as before.

I have question: Do you targeting product names, like samsung tv 32e5034v ,or you are targeting some long tails like best 3d smart tv.

What do you think, which is better? I know when you are targeting product names you will have to beat amazon,walmart... :)

Thanks and keep going.

Hey! Thank you.

I do not intentionally target those type of keywords but they come in naturally. And yes, I target long tails such as those (even though I really wouldn't count that as a long tail). Target as many keywords possible while remaining it to have a fluent reading experience for the user.

Best of luck with your site!

I have not given up, I've since last time gotten 2 writers that I will put to work daily for some great content from now on. Although, I have school and many other ventures running on the side - so please bear with me, I will succeed but this venture will take a bit longer than it would focusing 100% on this project.

UPDATE
2 days ago I sold 5 items from BLUE. It appears that I get some traffic from "best *keyword* 2015" which is really important to add on your titles. The products I sold were niche related (2-3 of them at least) which means a sweet little commission of $6. Now this journey have made me $18, with a investment of $200 - not profitable yet but it will come by eventually.

Content investment is really worth it as content will be used as long as you site is live, and that is basically what the expenses are from (and 50 web 2.0's to RED, $45). I have hired two cheaper writers now that will pull out content so I think that these expenses won't be as huge as it would be if I continued with my previous writers.

I got a question for all of you. I am thinking of actually giving a break to RED, I just feel that during this time (school start, other ventures and such) I don't really have time to put focus on 2 sites at the same time. I am thinking of putting myself to work a few days on BLUE just collecting lots of keywords and getting a grip about all the types of the niche. I will do this probably next weekend as I won't really have time before then.

If you think this would be a good idea, please let me know. RED would be continued as soon as I've collected sets of keywords to assign my writers so that the work would be more easily managed and I wouldn't have to research keywords each time I am assigning a writer some work.

Also, I will buy 50 x web 2.0's to BLUE as a start in the link-building campaign (which won't be too heavy, but still).

Until next time,
hekke

HEKE
Mind posting some ranking screen-shots/stats?
MIRRER (heh)
Sure, I'll post the rankings for blue as that is the one I will focus on for the time being.
nUSHsOL

As you can see, I've lost quiet a bit but that was as I changed the URL for every post on the site - so it is nothing to worry about. They were all at about 7th-4th page and this is all without doing any backlinks whatsoever, not the best but way better than RED.

I actually don't have any more money to invest until the months end as I donated my last $300 into helping my VA paying his college fee's - or else he would've been kicked out and have a hard time getting into a college later. Some have said that this is a stupid move but actually, I get 100 working-hours in return AND I help him doing what he loves - study.

I will receive 2 payments from Amazon next month so I will for sure have some money to play around with and just invest, invest and invest. I might give my VA some work doing keyword research and/or finding niche-related blogs/websites so that I got keywords to use. :)

That's all.

Until next time,
hekke

Time for an update!

I have been really focused on other projects and started school about a week ago. After school I go to the gym and have 1-2 hours sessions, come home, eat and sleep. Therefore I haven't really been active on this journey nor on my sites. I will get used to it and I will become more active soon, just had to take a few days off. (Obviously, if you know me, I didn't take any days off. I worked but on other projects).

Previously I said that I was going to focus only on BLUE for now but... I cannot seem to find any keywords to target for this site... So I guess I just need to do off-page SEO and also put up some individual reviews of the products that I list as the top 5 best ones.

To start off, I will order a package of 50 web 2.0's and do some .pdf and video-sharing sites to diversify it a little. After that I will just let it sit for a while and see where it land and do more off-page SEO from the results from that. Actually, after I sell my big site that sits on the same host as these two sites I want to do some PBN link-building (exciting!). I just don't want to fuck up just before I sell the site hah.

Well, I guess I will do another search (really deep) so that I can make sure that I target all the possible keywords (that I want to target) on BLUE and then move on to RED.

Until next time,
hekke

I think I invested around $200 into both sites, this is a bit pricey as my new writers are much cheaper and does the same great quality job so I could've saved a ton from using the current writers but I got top notch articles on both of my sites now so that's a plus. I've made about $18, which is far from profitable but as the sites age and ranks higher I'll get a big ROI (hopefully).

Best of luck with your journey, I've checked it out and will try to follow you as you progress! :)

Hey hekke, congrats on everything you have accomplished. I've learned a lot from following this thread.

I did have a question though. How many affiliate links do you think are too many? Currently I have about ~15 links per ~1000 word article and i'm concerned that it might be too many in the eyes of google.

What are your thoughts?

Hi guys. Sorry for no update in a while.

I have decided to set these two properties on pause for now. I highly dislike the niches I chose and I don't really want to work in them nor do I think they are "easy" or whatever I was thinking before. Although, this does not mean that I won't ever pick up these sites again and work on them later. They can sit and age and I might come back 1 year later and start working damn hard on them, who knows?

I really enjoyed sharing my progress with you guys (even though it wasn't much of a progress). I am currently selling my main site, starting 2 new smaller sites and passively working on a big authority site in a broad niche - not as "niched" as RED and BLUE. Anyhow, thank you all for following my journey - it's been fun.

Conclusion; make sure to niche/keyword research a ton before going into something. I just felt overwhelmed by all these different types of the products, different techniques, etc. which made me quickly run out of keywords to target as I didn't know exactly what these are used for. I know the standard usage, but nothing more than that.

Also, from now on I will be more structured with ordering content - I will make lists of keywords I want to target and filter them during maybe a week so that I easily can order more content without doing more keyword research each day.

I also should've done more competition research, I do not have easy competition against me - my competitors are some authority sites in the niche ranking above everything due to their massive size and backlinks. Sure, I CAN rank past them but that would require a time and money budget that I do have, but are not willing to spend if all goes wrong.

Thanks for this time. I might restart this journey later on, so this thread will remain open! :)

Best of luck with all of your journeys and projects! :)

Take care,
hekke
