Hostwinds is freaking me out!

This company is ridiculous.

I have one hosting package and four domains on their servers.
Yesterday i have ordered the 4th domain. 24 hours have passed, domain is not working.
"We are registering domains in batches once a day..." " I have ordered the domain 24 hours ago..."
"yes your domain will be registered in todays batch" "Why is the domain showing in client area as active"
"this means your order is accepted" there it was enough for me and i closed the awesome support chat.

48h to register a domain? Registering a domain is a 10min process at normal hosting provider services.

On my first order ever they wanted my id card for fraud prevention... it takes also two days for this process...

Why i have used them again? Cause i dont know how to move my whole hosting to another provider...

I'm damn mad on them! Stay away from them if you want a good service!

Why so impatient? Just give it time. It probably just has to propagate.

HostWinds is great. I have never had any problems with them.

I dont want to be rude ... but better stop smoking that .... Domains registrations should me immediately processed . For 24 hours more than 100pps may register this domain......

I beg to differ slightly on this as we could have misunderstand OP question. He could be saying that the domain has yet been propagated (this would take 24 hours in certain cases). As the OP has mention, the domain is not working. It could mean that the propagation process has yet complete. I am using Hostwind service, yes I am frustrated with their verification process (even SMS verification), but in terms of hosting, their service is not too bad. Hostwind don't pay me for this backing, I am just speaking out of my own personal experience with them.

The Domain was showing as active in the client area since 9 hours...
And this guy want to tell me this was the order acceptation? But my payment was accepted immediately.

That's why domain name should be at domain registrar & website files should be at hosting provider.
It should take time not more than 10 minutes to manage a successful bought domain name.

EDIT: If OP referred to domain propagation, it should be 48 hours max for it to work.
But, if he talked about accessing to manage domain after successfully bought it, it's weird as it constantly at domain registrar even domain reseller.

Well even namecheap say this: Wait around 24 hours until the DNS settings for the domain are propagated
Don't be frustrated OP, I am certain all will turn out fine eventually. Just give Hostwind a little time.

Domain propagation is actually a myth. Most of the Domain providers would push your nameservers within a few minutes nowadays.
The actual issue is the TTL / DNS cache.

@OP just go to http://www.intodns.com and check whether your domain is pointing at your web server and you'll know if your domain has been registrated and if it is already live for the world.
If it is then just google how to flush the DNS cache of your computer. -->

Command prompt : ipconfig /flushdns
Empty browser cache
Unplug your router for 15 seconds

Try to connect to your website.

Meanwhile, regarding hostwinds I'd like to share one of my experience.

They provided a hosting giveaway on BHW for 6 months, I was thinking to move my existings sites over here after using them for a month.
But right after 35 days, they provided me invoice to pay for rest 11 months
I've send the msgs in giveaway section, bhw(hostwinds) account, mail to support regarding this, but it didn't succinct.
In the end, they disabled the option for backup wizard from cPanel
Just due to that, I've re-created the updates again :|

Even I never recommend my friends to go for hostwinds.

PS : $ was not issue, trust is more
I could have pay but how I can trust them after that?

Why you are using Hostwinds for registering/buying domain names? For domains, go with NameCheap.

The hosting of Hostwinds is pretty cool though.

I wouldn't trust them after that either.

OP I would be frustrated too about the domain name situation. I have almost always registered my domain names through my hosting company and propogation never took more than 24 hours. In most cases my domain was ready to use within a few hours. The hosting company should have been able to provide more than a vague "we register in batches" answer.

If you don't know how to move your sites follow up on some of the recommendations you received in this thread or check out the BHW marketplace. There are plenty of people who can move your sites for you at a reasonable price. Don't feel as though you have to stay with a company you are not satisfied with.

Our domain registration is usually instant unless your account is flagged for manual review, in that case it is completed within 12 hours usually.

In terms of propagation, it usually only takes 30 minutes or so.

Do you have a ticket # related to this issue?

This doesn't seem right at all, I checked through all my PM's I do not have a single message from you.

Please PM me, with your email on file and I will look into this immediately

Also we have not disabled the backup wizard in cPanel, you can ask any of our happy clients, I think you may have us confused with another host.

Well again I don't want to be rude .. but was following hostwinds from the beginning. They start well.. I even had some accounts with them.. but slowly they start looking on the numbers like hostgator and other "good" providers. Also they destroy one big project " zPanel CP" just to use it for marketing sh|ts.. There was lot of developers who had spend hundreds of hours on the project and hostwinds easy manage to take it down ... it instead of support the project as a hosting provider... what a shame ...

Update: 48 Hours passed, domain is not working. Support Chat does not know why,
opening a ticket to billing support which is away the whole weekend. nice...

I moved from hostgator to Hostwinds about 3 months ago after good reviews on BHW. I am very happy with Hostwinds; support is great and they always helped a lot. Domain registration with Hostwinds was also quick and easy. I could not be happier.

I don't know. Honestly their support helped me a lot and all my questions were answered on time. So once again, I am happy with Hostwinds and their support is great.
