A little bit of complaining

I dont know about you but I'm SICK of Instagram. I worked hard to grow my page we are fkn stupid (and kind) enough to use their app and they do really unfair things. Yes I dont have the money like huge stars to invest in advertising or shoutouts I TRY to save to travel while I'm still young so I decided to grow my account manually. But now is this a joke? I'm having 600 likes on every picture instead of 1800 likes and I do NOT exagerate. I felt guilty because we are "spammers" but this is false. I'm not a spammer I worked hard to get there, I wasnt aware of instagram when there was no rules and I am not spaming or disturbing ANYONE. I dont comment anything or any spammy ad. So this is fkn unfair and I feel so stupid to keep using their app when they make my account look ridiculous and stupid. I give genuine likes and follows evryday GENUINE comments. I use their app like everyone else I dont sell bullsh*t or have spammy links or steal someone else identity.

Anyways my point was that I used to have a great ratio and just cutting it out of nowhere when my habits didn't change is unacceptable. Well actually yes it changed, I dont use any bots anymore which is good. We cant follow? We cant comment? We cant like? Well whats the point of instagram then? Like I even have my own pictures posted lol which is even MORE what instagram want. The worst is that I'm not even going over the daily and hour limit and my account is worse than EVER.

now you can complain about the fact that I'm complaining but I really had to share my thoughts.

Sorry to hear that, but Instagram definitely changed very quickly and it's hurting Internet Marketers a lot. Sadly, there's no other way but to keep going I guess.. I could go and write a long complain too, but I don't see any point of it.

On a serious note, how do they technically cut down on engagement? Everyone you follow gets displayed on your feed, and you cannot put any ads on Instagram, right? It's been a while since I used Instagram as a marketer, so I am not sure how it works nowadays, I am just interested if you know how they do it.

They reduce your appearance in the explore tab of your followers, thus reducing your overall count

Well, tough shit. I'm sorry, but Youtube did the exact same thing a while ago when Google bought them out. It used to be GUARANTEED $2.5 CPM even if you made the crappiest videos ever, and reach was far, far greater. Tumblr used to be less harsh on NSFW blogs, and tbh on adsense in general for even SFW blogs back before Yahoo bought them. Instagram now seems to be crappier than before it was bought. But realize, you can't do a single thing about it. And it's okay to complain, trust me, I have a few of my own complaints for every Social Media platform I ever made money from.. but you better keep working. Because you may fall behind, and others will get popular and up there no matter how much harder it was made for them. Don't ever be discouraged.

I am affected by this as well. When IG didn't didn't start cracking down, my published photos were getting a lot of likes. Now, it is half if not less.

It's just like every single other business that exists. If you don't grow and adapt, then you will fall behind.

I know it would be nice to just do what everyone else is doing and make a heap of money but the world just doesn't work that way.

in terms of your question: not only your appearance on explore tab is reduced but I have also observed the following on my own account:
"I keep following a certain number of my friends on the account that I'm growing and in order to see their posts through all the other posts I turned on notifications for them. one of the girls is pretty active with sharing photos and I noticed that frequently I would get a notification about a new photo from her account. there are two scenarios:
-notification was delayed but it led me straight to the photo
-notification came immediately but when I click on it there was no photo. I would then go to her profile and there is still no photo. as an experiment I was checking her profile for quite a while and turns out that there were plenty of photos that I haven't seen at all and today's photos were delayed by 10-15 minutes at least until I could see them.
basically, they delay the post and after 10-15 minutes it gets buried somewhere down and not that many people bother to scroll down. the above is also true for any other accounts of my friends that post frequently"

I absolutely understand you man! it's somewhat of a joke. one photo of mine gets almost 400 likes, another one get 500. but I decided to not give a shit anymore, what happens, happens. Just growing my account and will see where it goes.

I'll use this thread to express my rage as well.

I've lost 5 accounts over the past 2 months, each one of them I created after another was taken down.None of my accounts violated the TOS in anyway, my content was original and appropriate.Heck I barely commented once or twice on other accounts in a day and that was the only thing I did besides posting my pictures.Yet here I am again, completely disheartened and done with Instagram.I've seen tons of accounts violating the TOS ranging from posting nudes to spamming but they never get taken down cause they have 1000s of followers and I happened to have 50.
I started using Instagram to create a follow base so that in the future when I launch my website I can have a place to get my traffic from but well that dream is now down the drain.

I still regret the mistake I did by deleting my old page that had 2k followers 2 years back, a time when I used to get 5x the likes, 5x the followers and honestly, not as many as fake accounts that I get now.

That is how I think now to be honest, I dont really care about numbers anymore or not much, I make sure when I check my account that I have a lot of activities going on and like the other guy said, so I dont fall behind that it really to be honest I am not really excited about Instagram no more, I prefer twitter these days somewhat.
