I bought Long Tail Platinum few days ago. With $47 + month free platinum subscription from ClickBank. Long Tail Platinum is better than Pro.

any one try the new version can tell me is it better than the previous version

I think better than the old version more useful by the way thank you

I bought this for $37 and am a bit pissed off that it doesn't contain the competitiveness ranking in results. I'm sure it was made clear on the purchase pages, but $37 for a bit of software that requires an additional $200 purchase to display the most important metric has annoyed me a bit.

I need to try and figure out what Long Tail Pro Platinum can do for a competitiveness metric that the Adwords keyword planner and SEMrush keyword difficulty tool can't.

Care to elaborate?

Before I bought Long Tail Platinum I used the 10 day free trial first (the trial is only for pro) and tbh I didn't think it was worth it without having the keyword competitiveness algorithm. I fork out the $17 on a monthly basis for it but I use it alot.

For the most part it's reasonably accurate but you do need to use common sense too. I found a really nice buyer keyword for a newish product and it has less than 10 allintitle competition, but according to Long Tail Pro has a KC of 53 which is really high. I wrote an article for the keyword and am ranking on page 1 easily with no backlinks, but if I'd gone by the KC score I woudn't have touched it as I normally stick to less than 35.

How do you get it for $17 a month? I was offered that price when I first bought the pro version (just last night!) but can't find out how to get that price again.

Ignore my last post, I just got an email newsletter from long tail pro offering me the cheaper subscription.

I was considering this but decided against it ... I'm still on the fence.

My rank tracking software has a KW suggestion tools from AdWords, SEM and others and it seems to be enough. It also has competitiveness rankings, similar to LTP, with a 1 to 100 score. So I couldn't rationalize buying more software that does what I already have.

Is there a good reason to by LTP if I already have these functions? Thanks.

I just use KS and plug that into google KWP and it works well but this is nice share

I agree with you Platinum is far more better, than pro.

I bought the Longtailpro and the first upsell. I don't have any software and trying to find keywords for electrical contracting and other areas. I got an email in my gmail that there is a bonus workshop for buyers on the 28th, as well as two more upsells.

The only thing I use LTP for really is the keyword competitiveness which I do find useful. If you've got that feature elsewhere then I don't think you need it.

In my opinion, old version is better, simple and easy to use. New version sometime crash on my laptop.

It's pretty much the same as the old version. However, you can organize a little bit better. I think calculating Keyword Competition is a bit slower than it use to be though. Either way, it's the best keyword research tool out there (along with SEMrush)

Can someone explain the difference between long tail pro and platinum? Also, is it a desktop peice OR a server based app?

Platinum allows you to calculate Keyword Competition score, which is nothing huge, but it does allow you to research a bit faster. Platinum also allows you to save keywords quickly and easily.

I think that's it.

Is it worth it? For me it is only because I enjoy saving time.

You can use it on desktop.

The difference is the competitiveness score.
I bought the pro version and it seems useless to me.. I guess you have to buy the Platinum to get anything out of this software, though I am not sure if the upgrade to Platinum is worth the $200.
