Amazon EC2 - free VPS?

I've been using AWS (Amazon Web Services) for extra storage for a while now and it's REALLY cheap, just cents a month usually.

Anyway, my little expanding empire requires another VPS and while I've been exceptionally happy with the provider I've been using it occurs to be that it might be possible to get a free VPS on the Amazon EC2 platform.

On EC2 there's a free tier, has anyone had any experience of using one of the windows instances as a VPS? I've been trying to figure out the worst case scenario cost for running an instance with ScrapeBox and BuzzBundle on it, but my god is the charging structure confusing!

I'm running Windows VPS on EC2, using it just to run Hitleap viewer 24/7, and it is totally free for the first year. You get free 750hrs a month i think.

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, the newest one you can use with free tier, i think

The problem with AWS is if they get a complaint about your bots, they block your account instantly.

I did wonder about that. I'm not planning anything exciting though, just scrapebox and Buzzbundle at most. I've set it all up now and it is flip fast!

I've used EC2 for my websites and their pricing is pretty confusing .. they charge per sql transaction .. which is insane and you cannot calculate that to predict your costs.. would be interesting to know your experience with scrapebox on it .. keep us posted buddy ..

How fast is the hosting? It's mad charging by sql connection, how much does that cost you?

So far so good. The speed is certainly impressive when you do a test, but seems to lag when you're surfing, but that could be my connection to the RDP rather than the actual VPS.

Oh, and I'm sure there must be a bunch of people using GSA on their Ec2 VPS. I'm getting a TON of spam signups on my sites and the IP resolves back to EC2 IPs

The free tier is really good for running a couple of WordPress websites. If you're looking to run tools I'd be careful with the bandwidth.

I haven't used Ec2 VPS for runing my software's..but would love to hear about your experience. Please keep updating and try not to get Blocked. I have heard that they are very sensitive..

It's a good VPS for starters. But we hear stories of accounts getting banned pretty quickly.

hosting is pretty good..speed is awesome..i turned off the sql before it started costing too much..have turned off the ec2 vps now..it still charges abt 6 bux a month untill i delete the instance..too lazy to do that..i shld do that ..will save 75 bux a yr

Well Buzzbundle runs about the same as it does on my other VPS. I just tried to install Scrapebox but apparently I've run out of disc space. Not sure I can be jiggered to buy some.
