Selling a Youtube channel - easier now?

A few years ago I considered selling my Youtube channel and associated website. The channel has 15k subs and about 60 million views and earns several thousand dollars per year. Back then Youtube made it difficult to transfer ownership of a Youtube channel but now it seems like it is much much easier to transfer a channel out of one google account and into another.

Does anyone have experience selling a Youtube channel recently? Does Youtube even bother to police these situations nowadays? Are their any risks? And how would I go about it with regard to escrow...what services are available.

Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry my first post is asking for advice...I had older aged accounts here but they are attached to out of use email addresses.

I have not sold a channel recently, but if you're going to transfer a channel, I would suggest just sending all of the information of the google account, rather than transferring just the channel. Then, transfer all of the things from the google account to whatever google account you'd like to use. This would make YT a lot less suspicious of the transaction.

Yeah but this is my personal google account, plus it's hooked into an adsense account that is hooked up to several other YT channels. I've already transferred a bunch of pages since this functionality came out. You're right though...the suspicion would happen when I unhooked the YT channel from my adsense and he put it into his adsense (if he chooses to earn revenue that way).

The channel was made in 2009 and gets about 20k views/day but that varies depending on how the suggested video algorithm is treating me. The category is science and technology.

Yeah that seems like a decent idea...I might have to consider that. I contacted Youtube support last year asking them about the sale of a YT channel and they told me that in certain cases they will actually facilitate the sale of a YT channel. Maybe I'll take a chance and contact them again. My guess is that they'd want a percentage of the sale price.

Back when I was getting 100-120k views/day on that channel I had a bunch of videos that weren't approved for monetization that I ran CPA links on and that made me some extra money, but the adsense money was good back then so I was happy with that. This channel has gone down hill some and only makes me around $600/month average from Adsense. I've been out of the CPA game for awhile and I'm not sure how easy it would be for me to make more than $600/month on these types of videos.

Your Chanel isn't bad at all, $600 a month is good but you should've considered spend some of the profit on advertizing & good SEO services, backlinks,... to higher your future earnings

Let's say you spend $150 to $200 a month on advertizing for like 2 or months, i'm dead sure you'll get more than $600 a month after than, so you do the math.

Well...the only reason I make money is because of Adsense and because the videos have tens of millions of views. I am just a guy who got lucky...not a true internet marketer by any stretch. Back then the channel was making me $2000-2500/month I was happy just to get that money to supplement my regular income but then their algorithms changed and my views were cut in half...then by half again. Then I kind of gave up and worked on different projects. I've been uploading a couple videos to the channel lately though, trying to resurrect it a bit with limited success. So I figured maybe I'll just sell it.

if the account was created before 2010, then you can move the channel to a new email address. After 2010, you will have to sell the full gmail account.

Selling or buying accounts is against YT TOS, however as long as both part are fair ( seller and buyer) YT will not notice there is a new owner controlling the channel. Just get a vpn or proxy to log in from the country where the account was made from, otherwise it can get blocked.

Buying channels is harder now, as there is no way to contact owners since YT downgraded the inbox features one year and half ago.

That is not accurate. I just moved a channel the other day from one Google account to another. It was an account I made last year. I moved another one a few days later that was brand new, just created. Moved it from one fairly new Google account to another.

Like I mentioned, Youtube email support actually told me that while selling channels is generally against TOS, in certain cases they will allow it and can even facilitate the sale. I don't know how difficult that is to get them to do, or under which circumstances the channel can be sold. The thing I'd be concerned about is once the channel gets pulled off of one adsense and put onto another adsense that is in someone else's name. I think that would raise red flags.

Talk to Meathead about it. I did and he told me that it is against YT's TOS but if you've spoken directly to them, maybe something can be worked out. There would certainly be interested buyers. I know I myself would be interested to learn more if it was handled professionally and through a broker.
