Possible Attack On Site SEO

Hello,

We have recently noticed on our webmaster tools that a lot of links with unrelated keywords and phrases have been indexed, on further investigation we have found out that someone has purchased a completely unrelated domain name that was once a fully functional website with established links and has created a permanent redirect from that domain name to our site.

There are over a 1000 links now with unrelated terms and keywords linking to our site.

Within a few weeks of noticing these links our site dropped for a couple of search terms (including one position for a primary search term that we were ranking position 2 for).

Would this have a negative affect on our seo, and what can we do to neutralise the attack? Or would the drop in position be a coincidence and unrelated?

I would simply contact the domain registrar and ask them to remove the 301.

They almost got how I would neg SEO someone.

But, if the terms are unrelated, you'll drop out for those terms. I would also disavow the redirected domain.

Thanks for getting back to us.

Ok so just want to clarify, if we disavow the redirected domain, that there would be no negative impact on our rankings from losing all those unrelated links?
