I had a dispute with one of my competitors recently. It was about me using some pictures on my site which he claimed to be his property. He went to a lawyer right away. Long story short I won the dispute at the end which cost him a nice amount of money. I dont know why people always run to lawyers instead of talking and trying to find a solution...

Anyway I got a weird email today. There were some of my PBNs listed and the text says "the google spam team does not like that". I dont know for sure but it sounds too much like revenge and I guess he will report me to google. Or already did so.

What should I do? Will anything happen at all? I mean google probably receives millions of spam reports every day. Do they really check all of them?

First thing i would do is not reply to the email, and second have a look at your pbn's and make sure they are bulletproof. You could even temporarily remove the links if that is manageable, until things calm down a bit.

As someone who has reported dozens of PBNs to Google's webspam team I can tell you the chances are pretty slim they'll take action. Unless the PBN consists of hundreds of domains they just don't care.

For the most part, Google doesn't penalize people just because someone reported them. You would have to be a pretty huge network of sites with some true spammy stuff and on top of that you'd have to be ranking due to what you've done.

I would ignore it. Google uses reports to improve the algorithm not as a way for competitors to narc on each other. Usually, it takes several people bitching and moaning loudly for Google to really look into it and take action.

no, its not my way of doing things. Its not that I am a good person but I dont like going to dad. I prefer playing.

My PBNs are pretty good but lets be real here: Almost no PBN will ever survive a manual review.

I am glad to hear that his threat seems to be irrelevant as google does not care. So I tend to do nothing. Removing all links is not an option for me.

yep. I am always rational and dont take things personally. But there are a lot of people out there who are driven by their own negative emotions and wish for revenge. They want to destroy you even if they know that you will hit back hard. Makes no sense but a lot of people are like this
