How to build forum?

My website has a forum where people can register and share information bla bla bla
they get to it via a giant logo on the right sidebar on my website homepage

The problem is, for one) I cant tell if anyone if even visiting the forum, as my wassup app doesnt tell me that, i dont think...
two) if they are visiting, they arent registering.

Any ideas to help build my forum membership base?

Right now I have napsters 60 day SEO program going on for the website.. its been going about two weeks. Hopefully as time goes on, this will help, but I would like to do some other stuff also

Just sign up and post yourself. If you make it look active and have cool topics and discussions going on, then people will come. Would you join BHW if there was nothing here? I know I joined for the discussions...

BTW, Vbuletin & Mybb is the best platform for creating forum. if you don't have any idea about that, search in google. you will get lost of resource about it or you can hire me. :banana:

Perhaps making the forum private until you register?

Make it active, invite your colleagues and offer incentives to people on other forums in the same niche as yours to register and participate in competitions and giveaways.

Without any content on the forum no one will post there because no one want to be the first.
You got to make treads yourself with fake accounts to look like the forum is been active and than members will come normally.
