Hеy guys. A client of mine who is in carpet cleaning niche got a website which has been created before 7-8 years ago. The website has static .html pages and really good valuable content but its outdated and has no mobile version which can not be accepted these days as you know. I have not previous experience with this but I am wondering how to keep the link juice the website got from old backlinks after I transfer the whole website to wordpress.
The links would be changed to site.com/page.html to site.com/page , without the .html part.
My questions are:
1. Do I have to use some plugin to redirect the old pages to the newest ones or I should use direct .htaccess 301 redirection which is almost the same.
And after that
2. Which one is better?
a) To keep the old backlinks poiting to the .html pages (which pages will be already 301 redirected) ?
b) Or to inform the websites owners from where the site got backlinks so they may change the backlinks urls to the new url structured pages without .html ending part?
