Should i / Can i rank local site using PBN?

You don't need a PBN for ranking local sites. Putting up a PBN takes time, upkeep, rolling costs. For local it is generally overkill unless you're competing somewhere like NY maybe.

You can rank in local with a lot less.

You can rank your site with good PBNs and citations. But PBN sites should be really quality with unique niche related content, low OBLS, good and clean backlink profiles.

Don't rely soley on PBN that is leaving a huge footprint for google, especially if you don't get the PBN's right, think diversity into your link building, and ask yourself does the link profile look natural.

Also (don't know if you did this as part of onpage) embed google maps with your business adress on your site, and create a verified google+ business account/site, just keep in mind that with the google+ site/page all information like adress and phone number etc. must be cungurent with all other citations you have, in fact don't stop with google+ do the same with facebook, twitter, linkedin, instagram and pinterest and any other that I might have forgotten.
also see if you can find local forums or forums within your niche and use a signature with local kw that makes people want to click it, and be active in these forums, it will probably do some for seo but more importantly bring traffic witch in the end is the goal right?

My niche is highly competitive, almost everyone in the first page are using PBN in top 15 organic SERP. i don't think i can out rank them without a PBN..?

Yes, i have all the on-page you mentioned ( following the helpful and kind advise from BTB). Yes, i know local fourms, etc helps. But i don't think it is enough to outrank my competitors as they approach local seo company and are using advance link building such as PBN.. and etc mentioned in my 1st post.

sadly ifall your competitors are using pbn then you will likely have to as well- there is a new service being offered starting your own pbn with fantastic backlinks for about $50 -per site

Are you doing citations as well? Those are great for local SEO (I think.. don't quote me on that!).

Then again, I'm just a writer ;).

If your ultimate goal is "to outrank them", then you need to think ahead of your competitors and concentrate more on your link building approach. Do not restrict yourself from just building PBNs and citations alone, go with the global approach too. Guest posts, Press releases are a good way to diversify your backlink profile and it will come in handy in the longer run. Setting up your PBN is also very much needed in your case as you say the niche is highly competitive.

Just go with the option 1:
I don;t think web 2.0 gives you local visitors. Some webmaster here says that web 2 link building is not an organic SEO process.

But PBN citation and local press releases, local social exposure will sure reach you to a good position.

Yeah... will need to read more regarding building my own PBN..

Haha, yes, I am doing local citations as well too. (:

Thanks for your information. In my case, some of my competitors are also going the global seo approach too. Do you buy press release, guest posts, etc. in BHW market? I do not know which PR is good.. What are the price ranges from?
Yup. I will need to read up more on building PBN. Any tips or thread / links that are good /informative in helping me to build my own PBN?

So web2.0 tiered linking is not as helpful in my situation? Any one rank local site using web2.0 tiered link building?

ANY and ALLL relevant links are helpfull to you as long as they are targeted, and the first tip for your PBN is use multiple platforms not just WP, have decent if not good or even great content on the, update regularly and include links on your PBN's that are going to to high authority sites related to your niche, in other ways treat it like a normal blogger would treat a normal blog, and do remember to also build backlinks to your PBN's, use different themes, plugins you get the point.

and start thinking outside the box, think about how you can get high quality links I'll give you a little hint HARO (short for help a reporter)

Yes a PBN can rank it but for low competition keywords, I would recommend alternatives like web2.0s, social mentions, citations etc.

NO,
PBN is not a good approach if you are ranking for local.
Did you put it on Google Map?
If not, do it now.
- Add citation
- Social Signals
- Video BL
You should get your foot on...

I already done all the above... Did you read my thread? This is a highly competitive niche... Most of my competitors are using PBN

Of course, you need backlink diversification. You can use citations, local forums, manual blog comments, videos, infographics, etc. for this. But you also need really powerful backlinks if you say the niche is competitive such as PBNs with good backlink profile, maybe some guest posts, even better articles in magazines or local newspapers. But again, PBNs will be the most affordable from such authority links.

you can also do rank with high ranking sites it will help you improve rank best. yes you can also real blog network. it also give you natural backlinks....

The only way to find out what will work best is testing , for pbn find some expired domains

One of my clients is a Pest Control company in Los Angeles (cut throat competition) and they have been ranking extremely well (page one for their service location), even outranking most of the larger companies. I focused at first on tracing where the top ranking competition's local citations were and grabbed every single one, filling out every form possible when creating them, uploading images, and posting the youtube video I made for them if given the opportunity...oh and of course making sure my NAP was 100% accurate all across the board. I also focused quite a bit on Google Plus for local businesses (since Google seems to favor itself) and other reputable local business review sites, trying to get reviews...from locals who checked into the business (or spoofing them with a smartphone emulator, location spoofing and very good dedicated local proxies :D ).

As for Global ranking tactics like PBN's I did use a handful of them...small handful, maybe 20 give or take. I spent a good deal of time building them to make them very professional looking, using all 100% original, high quality content. Some were just blogs about insects in the Los Angeles area, with lots of focus on my area including using an LA address in the contact information for most of them, and similar ideas, but try and make them as diverse as possible. I also set up some high quality press releases for local news websites in my area. I do not think it's the worst idea, or a complete waste of time...as long as the PBN sites are very high quality, updated semi-regularly, and are of course relevant to your niche.. etc...but you shouldnt need too many of them. Building hundreds or thousands of poorly made Web 2.0's and what not could just blow up in your face at some point, so I would not recommend going that route. I also got a few backlinks (under ten) from edu sites at 3 different colleges in my clients city, but that was very difficult. As for authority links or parasite links I would avoid those as well, just to stay safe. Too risky in my opinion, not to mention a complete waste of time and money which could be better spent elsewhere, especially if end up tanking the site in the long run. Just my two cents anyways.

Thanks for your information! (:

1) What you mean by "(or spoofing them with a smartphone emulator, location spoofing and very good dedicated local proxies :D ). " Some methods of getting reviews? :O

2) For PBN, do you post the NAP together with your link too? Does it helps? or?

3) For this part "with lots of focus on my area including using an LA address in the contact information for most of them" , you mean you add in a google map & address in LA for all your PBN? So you just anyhow put an address in LA?

4) Do you recommend manually built quality web2.0 instead? Tiers building for local site?

5) You don't recommend parasite pages such as behance.net , etc.?

6) So after local citations, etc., the first thing i should built would be PBN if i am not wrong?

Thanks!

1.) There are tools for desktop computers that emulate an android smart phone. I would use this with a dedicated proxy geolocated to my clients city and force the software to us my proxies via an SSH tunnel. I would then install one of those location spoofing apps on the emulated smart phone to make it think I was at the clients business. Check in on the review site and then leave a review in the account I checked in on. I am not sure if this method still works, as I did this 2 years ago, but the reviews I posted are still sticking to this day.

2.) I mixed it up. Sometimes it would be a bloggers personal review of the business with either the businesses NAP or backlink, or both posted. Sometimes it would be a fake local business or blogger linking to one of my clients blog posts as a reference without the NAP.

3.) Yes, just a made up, but realistic NAP from my clients city. I would use a random, but real home address in Los Angeles, a skype number, and a made up name for the author or local business in their contact information page.

4.) Kind of, mostly manual. I would use a tool called autofill magic to cut time on filling out lots of the information. That tool also was a life save when building local citations. I did not do any tiered link building. Instead I would focus on the onsite SEO for the web 2.0s and the use of high quality content helped get them real traffic and even comments from real people.

5.) Honestly I have never used parasite pages or links...then again I really don't have any experience with them either. I have heard enough mixed reviews that I don't want to take any risk or waste the time with a clients page. But I absolutely do want to experiment with them at some point on my own pages.

6.) I built the website first, made sure everything was 100% original content from images to written content. Then made sure content was rich with keywords, but not spammy or anything like that. Then focused on perfecting onsite SEO. Then I went and setup between 130 to 150 local citations. Then focused on ranking the Videos I made for my client. Then Local press releases, and then I started focusing on reviews. I did the PBNs last since I had never tested that before on a local site. Not sure if it's what got me the rankings that the site has now, but I think it definitely did. I hope that is helpful.
