At first I did not want to post anything about this because I do not want it to be any more widely known than it is now. But it has become such a problem for me that I wanted to give others a heads-up.

Starting about 2 weeks ago, I've been receiving payments from different people, but the one thing they all had in common was that they were yahoo email addresses.

So in just under 2 weeks I've had about 40 chargebacks, and my account is frozen... Good times.

Someone posted something earlier in regards to recovering old yahoo emails, and using them to take over Facebook accounts. I'm pretty sure the same thing is going on, but with these Paypal accounts now.

I won't post the fraud yahoo emails here, just be on the lookout. I'm not really sure what can be done to prevent this fraud (while still using Paypal), I'm open to any ideas or suggestions.

Interesting, wonder if people are using that trick and recovering unused/dormant PayPal accounts.
That trick can also be used on old MSN/Hotmail accounts.
Always amazed me that they recycled accounts after 6 months inactivity.

Thats fucked up.

You made paypal aware right? Have you had a response yet?

Yea, I pretty much assumed that the dormant trick is what was happening. I'm just in shock that this type of thing would happen to me. Like at first I didn't want to mention anything about it, but I figured if I can get hit, then others that accept payments with paypal are also at risk.

I've contacted so many people there, and I've gotten no where. Shit, half the chargeback cases are still being "reviewed"

I'm not sure whether or not they are fully aware of what's going on, but I think that they do know what's going on because some of the recent fraud payments that came in were immediately marked as fraud, so I have some hope.

Same thing happened to me I run a watches online store and sell mainly in EU had around 18 charge backs in just 1 day luckily before I made the shipment. I contacted Paypal they asked me for shipping addresses I send those addresses still the case is under review.

Nice job dude, would suck really bad if you had sent out the goods!
Was it only yahoo email for you too?

Got 3 more today. The payments immediately went on hold...not like I can do anything with my account anyway!

I'm surprised no one else has said anything about it.
