Guys and gals, good news. It has been proven that 50+ views through a referral link from reddit gets your link indexed almost immediately.

I was baffled when I landed on the front-page for a random keyword (see my created threads for details) so I ran another test today. Not sure how I'll be ranking but reddit does sure as hell help with indexing! Took a total of 1 hour and 12 minutes.

This might be a cool trick you guys can use. High karma might count for something though, I've read that Reddit contributors are given tiers and I guess I might be in the top 50% karma-wise so YMMV with this method. Either way I'd say create a few accounts already! No email required.

UPDATE: I can't believe it... I'm page 1, number 5 for the keyword. On the first day of posting. No linkbuilding or anything! This tells me that if I time my shares right and if people search for the keyword and click my site it will stick right? As my previous post was first page for 1.5 days (currently 4th page... still not bad for a fluke )

Dumb question, but do you know if upvotes/downvotes matter when trying to rank your site with reddit?
Reddit users are on a different level than Facebook users. It isn't easy getting upvoted on reddit unless your website is about cats

I think he means that if the competition for that keyword is next to nothing then he can rank them easily. That's why he's asking what the competition is like for the keywords targeted by the OP.

I've been able to get my site indexed immediately by going to Yahoo answers and asking a question like "Do you think this site is legit", then you place your URL in the question.
I had a cure acne site and did this and got an answer that the site looked suspect since it had too much advertising on it LOL. But it got indexed in next to no time. :lmao:

I've dropped in the results but I'm still on the first page. The competition on average is 3.5 PR Rank (Out of the 8 other pages). My link is number 2 for the reddit post and dropped to 9 for my money site. There are 3 intitle results apart from my own, which is probably why I'm dropping. The topic has to do with summer, so high popularity at the moment and high competition.

Just to clarify something here. You're interchanging "indexing" and 'ranking" which are two different things.

You're getting indexed quickly because google crawls Reddit at a very high rate. If you have a very popular site, you'll know what I'm talking about. Googlebot crawls several times a second when your site is incredibly popular. This is why you're getting indexed quickly.

Now, for ranking, you are probably seeing personalized results. Google doesn't know people are clicking a Reddit link, so this is a case of correlation doesn't equal causation. Karma doesn't mean anything to Google. Next, you get an artificial boost if your content is very new and different. Then, it drops down after Google collects data.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I see this mistake all the time.

3 intitle results Is NOT 'high competition' - if you cant take out #1 for that, you fail the basics.
