I have found a domain with good backlinks profile. It has 24 subnets. 7 of them are from popular newspaper and magazine sites. Anchor texts are the brand name of the domain and its URL. However, the TF is only 6 and CF is 9. Should I take it despite the low metrics?

TF/CF is only a guide. The main thing you want to look out for is CF being more than 5x TF which is usually a sign of bad backlinks.

A domain with 1 single great backlink and a TF/CF of even 3-4 can still be very powerful. If this site has 7 backlinks from popular newspapers/magazines it's a great find.

I would have to look at it myself but if majestic is giving it 6 TF then the 7 good links your talking about are most likely nofollow links and they are pretty much useless (remember google made nofollow and do-follow for a reason).

I would move on and look for some 20+ TF domains, its plenty out there for you.

If the links are from random deep pages of the newspaper then it doesn't really have that much power or if the links are from comments etc.

TF is a majestic rank. It's not a google ranking factor. It's only to be used as an indicator of the power of a page. There are CF 8 pages that are much better than CF 30 pages. TF/CF is only your initial check. You make your buying decision on backlinks, and backlinks alone.

This is also just not true.

If it were true then all SEOs would only be interested in homepage links. Guest posting wouldn't work, since a guest post is a fresh article on a 'random deep page'.

Nofollow comments are obviously going to be junk, but a real contextual backlink from a newspaper or magazine is gold.

Thanks for your input guys/gals.

I just check the www version. TF is 14 CF is 26. These 7 links are d0follow editorial links. Not blog comments.

How deep is deep? The links are placed on category posts. For example, abc.com/category/post-name/

You so far off it isn't even funny anymore, deep pages from newspaper sites carry a whole lot of authority, it depends a bit on the news site, the way i seek out if these links are from (in google's eyes) authoritative news sites is to go to the news site pick a recent post, select the main keyphrase (like bank robbery in upper Manhattan) go to news.google.com at the keyphare and if the site pops up it is a good authorithy link, if it doesn't show up at all then it is just a link as any other.
