I have 2 questions regarding Google Penguin algorithmic penalty and I hope you can help me.

1. When do you start to feel the effects of algorithmic penalty? I mean, how many days should pass until you get hit by the algorithm after it has been launched, one day, three, one weeks?

2. What is the usual traffic drop percentage when Penguin hits you? Some people say that their traffic dropped as much as 80%. Maybe you have some other info based on your experience.

I had traffic drop from 1000 - 1200 visits per day to ZERO over night ! lost all my first page ranks..so the answer to #2 could be 100%

It looks more like a manual penalty, which usually kills all the traffic.

1. It's instant. The time it takes for you to see it is just the penalty information spreading to all of Google's servers around the world.

2. You lose from 80% to 100% depending on the gravity of your "infraction".

Did you specifically diagnose your penalty as being Penguin, if so how?

If you're inadvertently keyword stuffing, it'd be pre-black/white-animal-starting-with-letter-P Google update.

If your site has duplicate content, thin content, low quality content, redundant posts etc., it would be Panda.

If you have a ton of exact match anchor texts, whether on-site in your navigation or coming in from other sites, you're probably suffering from Penguin.

If you know enough to diagnose exactly what penalty you received, you probably know what you need to do to fix it. If you're just not ranking and picking a random Google update to say you're suffering from that specific penalty, you've just got to dig in and learn the changes in SEO over the last few years in order to realize what you're doing wrong, to fix it.

If you are in fact suffering from Penguin, you need to reduce your incoming exact anchors and diversify what types of links you're getting.

Panda often has an accululative effect over time. So pages that are dupes gradually get picked up and every bunch that does, google pushes you further down the rankings.
It can take few months to feel the full effect.
Rather than worry about percentages of the effect, aim to do work that avoids such penalties.
If it's crash and burn you are working on, then you just have to be ready with a buch of new domains to work on.
