I'm entering content writing field with experience, some tips amid this competition?

Hi everyone. I'm new to content writing market as well as BHW. I've mostly written for print media, but now I'm gearing up to enter the online content writing field. I took a premium course (from CopyBlogger) and I think now I'm ready. I learned a lot of things like cornerstone content, keywords, SEO, etc.

But when I come here, I see people selling their articles at dirt cheap rates. $0.07 per word! $3 per article! Well, I can't do that. And there are ton of people who WOULD. So, my question is, how do I even begin in midst of all this competition?! I mean looking at my writing's quality, the least I've become accustomed to expect is $10 -- no matter even if I have to write a lot.

I tried a few articles and submitted them to a friend of mine who's an internet marketer. I think the job here is as much as in print media. You gotta:

*be original,
*get good images,
*craft high-quality content, no copy-pasting,
*write copies that pursue and are authoritative,
*write with your heart,
*be able to cover all topics, and
*don't hesitate to research day and night

And I think I can do that, and spice it up by SEO and keyword-richness. So, if any of you could recommend a great place to start, it would be lovely. People or companies who seek quality content but still can give chance to a newcomer like me, amid all the competition and lesser rates would be an awesome place to begin and make a name.

I understand that there are content writers here who write even better than me. But I don't want you to feel like I'm less tough than anyone else here because I wrote for print. Let me reiterate: I write exceptionally good articles (as I gathered from the feedback I always get) that look professional, and which convert exactly the kind of traffic that they're meant to.

With my new knowledge and a little investment, I can make it SEO-friendly and rich with cornerstone content or multiple keywords. Besides the normal articles which are more like casual writing and blog posts, I am also willing to do fully research-backed long insightful articles of more than a couple thousand characters (but this one will take more time and effort).

Btw, Fiverr didn't work for me either. It's like magic. Works with some and they're totally happy with its results. And for the rest, it's a living hell.

elance and odesk is where i go to hire writers. for me, i'm willing to pay a premium to get better work. i pay $10-$15 per article, but i expect it to be good

i basically think that if its not well written and interesting, its not worth anything, even .70 cents. for it to be useful for a legit and stable business, it has to be top notch

the two most important factors are: writing sample, finishing on time (i hired two writers once, one finished on time, the other gave excuses for two weeks, they both produced good work. guess who didn't get hired again?)

there are lots of sites like envato that pay pretty well too for really well done tutorials

Suppose I do a gig for an article. It's 500 words. Then someone just designs a logo for somebody and gets the same money as me. He has an older profile, so he gets more views on his gigs. I mean what's the point of Fiverr!

I think much of the cheaper articles are spun (variations of an original article), which takes a lot less time doing. That's why they are able to provide at that price. But there is a need and demand for the kind of articles you describe as well. Spun content can be alright for linkbuilding and tier sites, but for my long term money site I want better quality and hind written content, even if it is more expensive
