Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia) (AFP) - Four Western tourists were ordered deported from Malaysia on Friday after pleading guilty to obscenity charges for taking nude photos on a popular climbing peak, an act some in the country blamed for causing a deadly earthquake.


They also were fined 5,000 Malaysian ringgit ($1,330) and ordered deported for committing an "obscene act in a public place," which can carry a three-month jail term.

I'm pretty sure they lost more money than the $1,330 fine they gave them, since people are going to be less likely to visit a country that goes that insane over some nudity.

Whats wrong with nudity? Just nudity alone is nothing sexual or pervy, where there are nudist colonies there isn't massive orgies.

Nudity in front of other tourist. And the mountain is considered "holy" to certain native local people.

Obviously this about respect - not 'stripping' off This group show complete lack of respect for the country they are visiting.

Worse shit happens in the US. Students get thrown off campus for flashing nipples in front of a webcam inside a library as I remember.
Some Koreans got deported from the Philippines for shooting nudes in a bird sanctuary and others got deported from Cambodia for nudity at a temple last month. And don't even ask about all the fines flashers get for running across football fields ...

Perhaps i'm too Americanized, but I don't see the big deal. Not saying this is the way I'd act but you're on the edge of some pretty intense view, what's the difference if you're nude or clothed ? can't one argue you are more spiritually aligned nude? ... now if they went and defecated on the place and laughed about that'd be a different story.

Thats why places should be shunned and boycotted if they have bad rules, its the same as if a company launches a product and does false advertising. If they want to be anti-fun and anti-money let them stay broke and miserable.
