Suddenly have 16k backlinks... Am I getting nuked by someone?

I checked my stats today and saw that my site has 16k backlinks. From around 300 backlinks to 16k over the course of 4 days... Fucking shit!

I haven't gotten any warnings yet but I'm pretty sure that I will either get banned or penalized by Google. Checked webmasters but no warnings as of yet.

Is there anything I can do?

How can I gather all links without access to any tools? Can I do this with webmasters?

Webmaster tools won't show those links for a month at least. Check your site on Ahrefs, it should show the links closer to real time.

I did that, but I'm using the free version and can only see 5 backlinks in total.

Get an Ahrefs report on Fiverr.

Actually while looking closer on the limited Ahrefs report I think I've figured out what it could be. I commented on a certain site, and after a brief look through it appears that my comments have been shown over thousands of their articles. I think that's because they have a "Also on XXX" section where they feature random comments.

Question is, is this something I have to worry about?

If it's an important project, consider paying a membership so you can gather as much information as possible, before your website gets penalised.
