I'm so tired with hosting issues. I just want a fast reliable server is that too much to ask?
I already use a VPS and pay 90$ a month for hosting at "a small orange". They have great service but the server keeps crashing for hours at a time.
I don't know what to do! please help.

You may try Offshore seo vps they have great uptime, 2 out of their 3 networks have Dos Protection. The one which doesn't have dos protection is the network which is very lenient and allows more things to be hosted on it than other hosts. Best of all you never need to contact their support at least not for reboots or any thing like this you have full access to your VPS from your client area
and can manage it from either there or the VPS control panel. I give a 100% vouche for these guys and their support is awesome!

thanks, i figured that no matter how much research i make, it doesn't really help because there is no way of actually learning something based on random opinions. So my new policy is: try a random provider - if it fails - try another one. Eventually i will find a good hosting provider by sheer statistics!

I've been using Hostmantis for over two years now, there reviews across the internet are pretty good as well.

Asmallorange does have terrific support, no doubt. I use them for some shared hosting and for a smaller site that works well.

For balls to the walls sites though, I prefer to use Powerup.

Take a look at them, OP.

Upon seeing various forums i too found the same issue "server down" with this hosting company "a small orange". Please go through the customer reviews of the hosting company before hosting your sites , so that you can get a clear cut view about the company and it will be helpfull for you to choose the best one which will satisfy your requirements.

I fully agree, it took me months of headache before settling down with one. Sometimes it's just experience, once you find one that works for you stick with it

Research research research before committing. It is good to do extensive research before buying any hosting. It is tiring to keep on trying like what you said... how many times to try until you get a good one? Read reviews, lots of reviews. Use the good ones, and I think you will never want to switch after that LOL

You can find many hosting providers who offer you quality VPS hosting. However, I suggest you to always look for the customer feedback before going for any hosting. Sometimes since some hosting provider placed more number of VPS in single hardware node and due to which VPS become slow even if you have good specification and at extreme it might even crash. Apart from this before going for any hosting always look for the server uptime record and below 99% uptime is not acceptable. And it would be great if they provide you 24X4 technical support too.

My experience:
- used braginhost (thanks bhw) - was good
- digitalocean now and it's great for me (linux vps)

I can't understand why you guys are complaining at all? Don't you know the main online & offline rule? YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY! If you want to go cheap.. go or go with those who spam the world ... again you will end up with crap vps , crap service , crashing lagging etc. I'm 29 years old have 15 years on the Internet have change over 30 "hosting providers" (believe me there is nothing worse than USA / INDIA / CHINA / netherland providers). I end up with www.WEBUZO.net , they are Offshore SSD VPS & SSD Dedi providers located in Bulgaria crash/lag free and 99.95% uptime , the only off time i had was during announced maintenance for 15min). They are guarantee not overselling their nodes (that why they are not selling SSD VPS for 5$) and you guarantee get 100% of the resource you are paying for 24/7! You are allowed to do pretty much everything except P2P Torrents Child porn etc . Perfect for Big projects and gaming servers .

I don't think that 14.99? for 1x 3.4Ghz+ CPU , 1GB RAM , 20GB SSD , 1TB Traffic 1000mbps, OpenVZ+WEBUZO control panel is big deal.

I understand that most pps don't have the budget for good host but b@@ch please.. If you don't have 20? don't start anything! Go at blogspot and STFU!

Simple, because the majority of them are shit. Then when you search Google for good hosting, all the five star reviews are affiliates promoting the shit hosting companies.

Digitalocean is pretty good. But you need to manage your own server tho.

So you are looking for friends not for hosting provider hug' ... With fast & stable hosting why you need the support for?

1. Don't take suggestions from hosts :)
2. Don't base everything on price (although $90 for a VPS? You can get a decent dedi for that - do you really need that much?)
3. Google for reviews
4. Visit hosting forums (WHT, LET, VPSB) and check out opinions there
