You could have made a mistake depending on how you want to market your website. Services like the one you bought
are fine for "Churn and Burn" sites, where the purpose is to rank quick, bank, and get out. If this is an authority site of
yours that you want to last the test of time, yes you made a mistake.

I wouldn't worry too much OP. If you get a message in GWT then disavow them but I have thrown hundreds of thousands of low quality links at one of my sites and it didn't have any effect.
If those links are low quality spam links then they might not even get indexed and you should have enough time to build some decent links and do some proper SEO on your site.
Nobody can give you a definitive answer as we don't know what service you used or the quality of the links you received.

Yes, I agree with this (not saying I am an expert). People need to be informed before making an important decision and it is for that purpose this forum exists.
