Views+Watchers=Sales

So I have about 30+ plus unique items listed, though they are not widely searched for items, they have been up for at least 2 months. Many of them have very few views (under 50), and even far less watchers or none at all. I'm not a top rated seller as I just started, but my feedback is at 95% with only 23 reviews. Anyway how does one increase views and watchers and ultimately conversions as well? How do I build up my reputation as a good seller too?

Basically eBay uses a proprietary algorithm for search rankings, and if you don't come up in the first 4-5 pages of a search for a keyword, your listings are going to be buried. You basically raise your search results by total sales, sellthorough rate, and DSR ratings. IMO there is no quick way to do it. I notice on my accounts that you get a bump around 100 sales and then another bump at 500 sales. Viewers don't add anything in the long run. What you want is total sales and high sellthrough rate.

They can make it so your listings don't come up unless you're searching for the exact terms in your listing. For example if you're selling "8oz BOTTLE OF ALBANIAN AFTER SEX NUT BUTTER PUBIC HAIR TREATMENT" unless someone is searching for all of those keywords your listing won't come up, even if the buyer is searching for "ALBANIAN NUT BUTTER" or "PUBIC HAIR TREATMENT". eBay is now known to throttle search results like this for specific sellers if they don't like you.

Thanks for the insight. I dusted off a 10 year old ebay account and am struggling to get sales. Everything is much more difficult than it was back then. How can one get sales if you need a decent sellthrough rate and DSR ratings in the first place?

And thats exactly the problem I'm running into. Traffic is very low, but how are you supposed to rank up if in the first place nobody is paying attention to your items. It seems like a backwards kind of system if you ask me.

I've noticed even short term bumps make a big difference. I work with a relatively high value item- and might go a few weeks without anything, then one, and then get buried in questions and sales. Then it goes quiet again.
