The best advice someone can give. Avoid bots whenever possible.
As you said, by posting constructive and meaningful comments you're not only getting backlinks and traffic, but you're also networking with bloggers.

dont look for bots. Do manual commenting. Your comments wont get approved if you use bots. Manual commenting is better.

@OP: If you're going to build links to your money site, then I'd strongly suggest you to do it manually.

Because bots doesn't check the website quality, they just spam. And if you set high pr settings in it then no one is going to approve your comments.
As, high authority blogs always has comments moderation on.
