I want to buy it potentially a few times for my site, but I want to build a White-hat authority site. I don't want any blackhat SEO for it because I want it to be a passive earning for the future.

The service looks bit pricey for me... 50 links for $75.. So the links may come from high authority websites.
Google are any search engines doesn't hate the links completely even it build like Black Hat.

So say I own a website. If I go on reddit and post a link to an article, or if I contact a news site about something my site did and get a press release, how is this blackhat?

If I have a friend who owns a larger site and posts about my site, how is this blackhat? It's just advertising.

anything that is trying to manipulate the SERPs in inherently blackhat. PR links are mainly no-folow so not much manipulation going on there in terms getting link juice.
you can call it whatever you want, but G has already made up their mind.
That being said, the service is pretty legit in terms of link building. Just natural looking 2.0s and profile links on popular sites thath avent been spammed into the ground...yet.

Because it's dangerous, at some point there will be update and you will be financially ruined.

I want to build a company, 1 large website. Not a money site, I want to build an actual company in the future based on my website/channel.

What makes you think that building a "white hat" website is going to make you immune from Google updates? There will ALWAYS be a risk of what you call financial ruin if you rely on Google to maintain your business. I don't mean to get off topic and avoid your question about BigBuddy's service(which I would recommend you use).
