Hi. I am using a link builder from BHW and he says this is the classic google dance. My rankings will pick up soon. I am not so sure about this. What do you experts think? He is building about 20 links a day. Variety of anchor texts and the domain is over 3 years old. I am a little worried

No the google dance is when you dress up in a panda suit and do a twerk off.

Google dance tends to go up and down daily, in my experience, like from page 1/2 to page 40/50.

It doesn't look like a dance, it looks more like Google decided to push your site down, where it probably deserves to be

Did some SEO on a site in page 2, during this, it went to page 6 and now, it's in page 2, first position, and it's still climbing.

have you check for manual penalty? my site dropped around that period too. i don't know.. might just wanna check that out.

LMFAO did you really ask if that 1 month of steady rank drop is a google dance?

Come on man, sometimes all it takes is common sense.

I think you need to track a good amount of keywords to see if it's a Google discotheque

You had somewhat stable rankings and then it dropped. When it came back up you got worse rankings that didn't stick. I really doubt that's Google dance.

Yeah realise you got screwed and you should use the disavow tool for the links you got from this guy, then you pray that it helps! I don't care who it is, it's very difficult to trust anyone in this business now a days.

Why would you need 20 links a day? Cannot be good links. Build a few good links per month. Takes more time but long term you will win.

One of my 300k keywords dropped significantly at the same time. I don't know what happened but I am sure it will recover, it wasn't a buyer keyword anyway but I lost 600+ visitors, oh well..

As your ranking were stable until that point it shouldn't be a Google dance but you never know. I started to rank for my keyword like 2-3 weeks ago so I guess that makes it a bigger chance that it is a Google dance.

Best,
hekke

Google did a 'phantom quality algo update' somewhere in May, don't remember the exact day. It could be your site, not the links causing the decline.
There is an article on Search Engine Land website.
