Hi guys,

I recently removed a duplucate G+ page for a client and today I spoke with a potential client who has 21 negative reviews.

Is it possible to delete a clients google plus listing (filled with bad reviews) and then simply create a new one? So it's a clean slate?

Would this work with yelp and true local as well?

You cannot create a new one under the same name, IIUC.

Just guessing here at a work around - a three step process:

1) Change the name
2) Change the address and phone number
3) Create a new G+ account using the old business name, etc.

Would be nice to validate if someone was successful doing this, or if this flags as a duplicate.

Would changing the address and phone number be necessary?

Because if changing the name was all that was required this would be a reletively easy work around. You could simply add the city after their business name..

I'm super interested to know if anyone has been successful with this.

My thinking is that Google is smart enough to correlate addresses and phone numbers to flag a new entry to be the same entity, thus carry over the reviews to the new one. (and you'd only be able to make a name change every 90 days, IIRC, so you won't get a second shot for some time).

It is definitely not a quick (within 24 hours) solution, as Google might go through some validation process.

In the US there are services (like UPS - presumably similar exist down under) that offer post boxes. Google flags the #123 box number, and does not accept P.O. box numbers, but I've designated the box as a Suite number (e.g. Ste 123, or, if it is a Suite already, Ste 999-123). I've not used this in Google (but did for offline purposes without issue from the vendor), so don't know if it works (G may correlate the street address as a service for boxes, anyway, IDK).

As for phone number - perhaps a cheap disposable phone?

You'll have to charge enough to your client to cover these costs, no doubt.

Also, the second G+ ID might need a slight twist to the name. For example, "McDonald's" (original to be renamed - e.g. to "Mickey D's"), and the second new account named "McDonald's - Restaurant" or "McDonald's - Darling Harbour".

Just offering up a suggestion here that might work, so, ideally, would like confirmation from someone in BHW on this.

If no one confirms, and you try this and it works, enter a [Method] and take credit for it.

I've worked with a client who did this but they had to change their address. They owned two connected properties which each had an address and they were able to do that. It worked with Google, I'm not sure if they needed to do it with Yelp.

I've seen up to 6 yelp listings for the same company, however I've also watched Yelp systematically 301 redirect all of those properties into the final one.

I the Google plus portfolio is listed within an account you own or and manage you can simply deathorize your Google account and simply repost your clients details.

As this was never really answered, I thought i'd throw in the answer regarding Yelp:

Yes, you can close a Yelp Business Listing and open a new one as often as you want - however, their support is pretty quick at spotting these changes (as they have to approve the new listing before it appears in the Search Box) and will link the old listen to the new one. It shows up as a box on the top of the old listing saying "bladibla has closed, the new one is here >link<". So it doesn't really change anything if you have hugely negative reviews.

Is that true for G+ (OP's initial concern), too?

Thanks Alpha. I haven't tried this yet, but I have a feeling you're right. You'd probably need to change the address to pull this off.

If anyone has any experience in trying this with G+ I'd love to hear how it went for you.
