[question] Can you get sued?

Realizing im still noob and i still have alot of unanswered question i was wondering
Out of curiosity can you get sued for copying content from one website and place on one of your own?

If not then what are penalties? Cuz if it was allowed then we would see alot of replicated websites i suppose...

Well the content is not yours and it is owned by someone else so in my mind you can get sued for copying someone else content. But I'm not a lawyer so i just recommend contacting a lawyer

yes you could get sued. But most often what will happen is that the site/company who's content you are stealing will simply send a copyright infringment notice to your host and google, then google will not show your site couse you can't contest it if you just stole it and didn't modify it in any way, and your host would at best ask you to remove the content and/but in some cases simply terminate your hosting account.

All that being said remember there is types of content that can't be copyrighted such as food and baking recipes, unless it is completely unique,these would fall under the public domain category

If you took the content from a copyrighted site, then you would be sued. This is how Intellectual Property Rights work my friend. Aside from the possibility of facing legal battles, you could also get penalties from Google.

More likely a dmca but if its a large brand and they feel u hurt their image, hell yeah u can get served.

If you copy from directories like ezinearticles and follow their guidelines, it should be fine. Other than that, its just like stealing someone else's content for which you could be sued if the original owner is powerful enough.
