What's up guys? Haven't posted in a while. Had a bit of a scare a couple of weeks ago. Kind of put things into perspective for me and made me realize how precious life is.

So two weeks ago, I started spitting blood after my usual 3 mile run. Went and got some X-rays and blood test, left the hospital, was called back immediately. Doctors said they were sure I had blood clots in my lungs. Did a C-scan, and here it is, I had 4 lung clots (pulmonary embolism), and a massive clot in my left leg. We traced the genesis back to a plane ride back from Jamaica. I was extremely dehydrated, and kept my feet up on the bulkhead for a very long period. The next day, I went for a run and my left leg was throbbing in pain. Chalked it up to being old and joints aching.

Fast forward 2 weeks...bunch of clots broke off, made their way through my heart (this is scary part, 25% people die when this happens), and lodged in my lungs. Ended up spending 5 days in the hospital. Have to be honest, the only thing that kept me sane was the hot nurses.

I'm 37, work out almost every day, play softball in 2 leagues, have sex with my wife at least twice a year...very healthy.

My point is, a lot of us sit for very long times. I was actually on a plane a month before and heard some old lady talking about this shit, and I laughed. I thought, it will never happen to me...well it did.

So here's some advice for my homies that work from home and sit a lot. I don't want you to go through the same shit. It's can be deadly.

1) Drink at least 1 gallon of water a day. Shit, this is just straight good for your body. You should do this regardless. Dehydration is the #1 cause of blood clots.
2) Don't sit for more than an hour. I bought a standing desk. I stand almost 90% of the day now. Fuck sitting. Sitting's for bad posture and fatties.
3) Fish Oil, Vitamin E, Garlic, probiotics, Cheyene Pepper, Pussy..all good for you
4) If on a plane, don't sit for more than 1 hour.

Take care of yourselves guys. I was always the guy that thought it wouldn't happen to me...well it did. Don't ever take your existence for granted!

*Side note - I closed $8K per month in new business while laying in my hospital bed. No fucking excuses!

wow John wishing you a speedy recovery.....loved the client closing thing :)

Get well soon OP . May god bless you good health.

Take care of your health. I doubt if sitting is such a dangerous thing to do.

Ohh man.. I'm so happy you're back up again!

That made me laugh.

On the plus side though - from now on, your foreplay could be as simple as unzipping your jeans whilst saying 'remember the blood clots in my heart?'

Seriously though, good to hear you're OK. That was a close call by the sounds of it.

Glad to see you're good to go man. But that sex part, funny! :D

Good to hear that you still keep banking while in this condition. Get well soon mate.

I would also recommend organic food as normal food from discounter is poisened with diffrent staff and your body will only focus on reducing them instead of cleaning your body from other staff.

They have me on blood thinners. They kind of suck. Make you tired and grumpy as fuck. Zero fucks given though. Put it into perspective. I'm alive. Better than the alternative.

Haha, i'm sleeping like 2 hours a night now. I can't wait to wake up and make money. Shit, I can't wait to wake up and drink my coffee, hug my wife and kids, and then get to work.

Life is beautiful bros. Don't take it for granted. It can be gone in the blink.

HOLY FUCK!

Glad to hear you escaped that 1 in 4 odds of kicking the bucket. That's some scary shit!

Standing is the way to go. Can't tell you how many times I would be glued to the computer so wrapped up in work....that I would never get up.

If anyone wants the most bad ass standing desk check out http://www.evodesk.com/. They are badass mofo's...

...and everyone in this line of work NEEDS to exercise daily...in the morning at the gym...then break your day up with a 30 min walk....around the block if you work from home...or around the office complex...just fucking do it!!!!

...and take a multi vitamin, fish oil supplement and a magnesium supplement daily. No excuses...fucking dooooo iiittttttttt!!!!

Hopefully this thread is a wake up call to many.

Money, #1 rankings and all that shit is small potatoes when you think about it. I can tell you, my outlook has changes dramatically over the past year. At some point it all clicks and you "get it."

Glad to hear you are alright man!

Glad to hear your alright dude and thanks for the well needed reminder on the health front!

staying all day in fornt of my computer makes me too lazy and dull..

Dude - go easy on your wife, OK, you are wearing her out! In a few years you are going to want to slip into something a little less intrusive as to exercise as running the hills up in your neck of the woods has to be rough on the knees.

Start looking at bicycles as you will be 40 before you know it - I have 2, one for just "casual getting in the miles" riding and one that weighs about 17 pounds that I use to really push my boundaries.

And do follow though with taking care of yourself as we are going to want to do Vegas again one day and I'm not going to push you around in a wheelchair all over town.

You really dodged a bullet with those blood clots making it through your heart. Glad to hear you are okay buddy.
This industry along with working from home can take its toil on you over time and leave you so far out of shape
it kills you. I made a change and started doing a hell of a lot more fishing, swimming, and other activities.

Getting out and becoming active will make you 10X more productive. Productive hours beats unnecessary long hours
in front of a computer any day.

be carefull most blood thinners are making dependent after using it longer than 30 days

That's scary. I work out 5 times a week but sit for the rest of the time.

You're lucky. An acquaintance of mine flew to Disney, came back, and died in his sleep. Same thing. Not sure how old he was but he was in his 30s and had 3 kids and a wife.

Yup, had a friend that had 3 kids die of the same thing a few years back. He was 34. This is serious shit and something all of us should be concerned about.
