Oh, it's a hard work, even you're inspired. If you're looking for making money by a blog, there are now more oportunities to make them much more easier online and offline. But from the other side, you should try for sure!

You could consider a content site where instead of writing blog posts, you write the content for your site and make them "article" style. I own about 3 of these types of sites and I get all kinds of organic traffic and some conversions from them. As long as you keep up on the content, you'll start getting some traction on google placement.

To make extra money on the blog, you can lock important parts of the methods and have people subscribe your email list to see it.

I think that people will read stuff about making money all day long,i surely was one of them as every newbie was in the beginning i guess.People will fill out surveys to get money-making guides (tested this from first hand when i was doing PPD on Clickbank money-making products - content locking CB products that is......yeah its BH as hell and from your introduction it aint your "cup of tea" but the point is it worked fine and i got many leads on few popular money-making programs back in the day),people will subscribe,share content and whatnot if the blog is showing them the right stuff with examples and traffic-earning reports, basically realistic stuff they can/will believe in (even with not so realistic claims like "earn 1000 dollars every day with this simple Facebook scheme" or shit like that).

Now,i know that you are not into that kinda game and you want to build your email list and monetize that way, but i just wanna point out that there is hungry crowd willing to do anything for money-making tutorials/guides.

Here is some insights from popular blogger who made his name in the IM blogging game, doing things you are planning to do (i guess) and his "over the shoulder" tactics on creating,design,promoting his blog from the scratch.You probably know about him,his name is Matthew Woodward and you should definitely check his stuff out, for example:
