Membership site on Facebook

Hello,

Does anyone have experience in creating membership site based on facebook? I have found some old WSO's from 2012 offering to create membership sites on facebook with email capture and passwords etc.
I can see only pros. No need to buy domain, hosting etc. More trust from people. Great ways promoting it etc.

They can take it down whenever they like, it will not actually be yours, it will be Facebook's, if it gets hacked you will get no help. But as long as you save them few dollars for hosting and a domain, everything is fine.

I'm guessing that's the only solution. But is it legal to charge access to secret groups? Facebook can ban you easily and all your effort then goes to waste.
