Basics:


I've been developing software for 15 years, involved in "Grey Hat" software development professionally for about 8 years now, and dabbled in the underground hacker channels prior to that. My passion is in cognitive science, I'm a patron of the arts (music and performance) and the software development I am most experienced in is in artificial intelligence, distributed Systems, and back-end infrastructure.

Experience:

I've written bots for games, account creators and posters for various sites, developed various SEO friendly sites for various products and services, including writing custom modules for handling payment processing through merchant account payment gateways like Authorize .NET (and PCI compliant mind you), and a text message based marketing system using VOIP and dynamically created phone numbers per area code (fully TCPA compliant as well).


My primary development platform is the .NET framework using C#. I'm also capable of using IL to inject patches/updates into pre-existing .NET applications to add or remove functionality. There isn't much I'm not capable of if it can be done in .NET. I suck at user interface design though.

Wish moderators would simply delete offending parts of a post, rather than delete the whole thread, there was some helpful advice there. And I don't know what all was ok to be posted vs not ok. I removed the parts I believe violated rules, but am still wary.

Welcome on board. You can't post a thread offering your products/services if you're not a Jr.VIP (which is a paid membership). Meanwhile you can find job offers posted by others in HAF & WTB sections. Read the rules of the forum and enjoy your stay.

Hello again! This one looks much better, should be ok. The last one looked a bit like a sales pitch but I'm sure it wasn't intended to break any rules. As for your question before, when you're eligible I believe the best section in the marketplace is the Misc. I know that doesn't sound ideal but I don't think we get a lot of developer threads in the marketplace. A lot of the developers advertise their services in their signature I believe. For now though, Hire a freelancer is your only option

If you want a signature right away you can purchase donor status for $97. In order to be Jr.VIP (allowed to post a marketplace thread) you need to be here for 60 days with at least 100 posts. If you pay for donor status before you're eligible for Jr.VIP you'll have to pay again to upgrade when you're eligible

Hell, to me, just posting my profession and experience feels like a sales pitch. My job is really the only thing I have to talk about in an introduction though; I have a relatively boring life otherwise lol.

Hang around for a while. Demand might not be obvious at first but once you start becoming active you'll be surprised at the number of connections and leads you'll find

Posting your experience is welcomed and encouraged. The only issue last time was a hint of a suggestion to contact you for services

After I made the posts I intended to consolidate them (pretty standard forum rule), however I didn't see a delete post button anywhere. Am I just having an oblivious moment, or is it hidden away somewhere? I frequently write first, cleanup after. Wasn't able to do that here :/

That Delete Post option is for Jr VIPs and above levels.

You may click on the "Multi-Quote This Message" button -- MQTM button (grayed out initially) -- it's on the extreme right at the bottom of your edit-box, just outside it. and to the right of the "Reply with Quote" button. Cick on all those MQTM buttons of the posts of various members on the thread that you want to add to your new comment (new post), and on the final post that you want to add to your comment, simply click on that MQTM button AND the "Reply with Quote" button which is before that MQTM button.

Al those members' posts selected with the MQTM buttons will become visible AS separate quotes in your new comment. Then you can comment for each separate member (below or above his quoted post), leave some blank lines in between each set, and make a nice looking new comment which can now have all the members' posts and your related comment to them in one post.

Hope I haven't confused you a lot.

P.S.:
If you wish to delete any of your posts, or your thread, then you may request the moderator to delete it. The moderator may still delete, or may not delete it... For sending the request, you may click on the Report Post button/link which is at the bottom of your edit box. Just remember to click only on those posts of yours which you want to request a delete.

Oh you haven't confused me. Haven't seen MQTM before, nice!

This isn't the first forum I've been on that restricts deleting posts to higher level members. Never understood the rationale behind that decision though. If the BB doesn't support admin/moderators being able to see deleted posts, and the database actually removes the rows instead of flipping a delete flag on; then I suppose I understand the reason for the policy. In which case someone needs to write the developers of the board a nasty letter *nods*.

Edit: Just checked, supposedly vBulletin supports soft deletes and admin/moderator viewing of the posts. So yeah, that policy just confuses me *shrug*.

Edit 2: Must wait 60 seconds between reporting posts.... y'all must have had some -serious- problems with trolls/spammers for all these throttles >_<.

General members (with yellow color) shouldn't be able to delete their posts for the simple reason that they have nothing to lose by abusing the system for their advantage (Jr VIPs lose a lot in process -- their $97 fees, the posts that they have built up and the precious time they have spent here on BHW, among many other important features). One such advantage may be that the newcomers may spam our forums with their site/product/whatever else details, and then quickly delete their post as soon as they catch some potential members in their net.

But NOT having the feature to delete their post exposes them to members who care and when those members come on the forums, or when the mods themselves find such posts (they are already too busy guys here ). Another thing, it becomes easy to abuse members and then quickly delete the thread after the member/s has/have read the abuse. There could be many such things the abuser can achieve and still get away free if they have the facility to delete their own posts as freely. If we have that feature (of the delete button not available to everyone) then it's there for a definitely good purpose.

Now that you mention that, I believe the other forum was a pretty large one too. I tended to stick more to administrative side rather than moderator side when I was apart of forums long time ago, and they were much smaller. I'm too non-confrontational to be a decent mod lol. At least until someone cries free speech / 1st amendment / censorship; then I go off on them about it being no different than being kicked out of someones house because you decided to start being obnoxious and insulting. *mutters* 1st amendment protects against government restrictions, not owner restrictions on private property! *grumbles and mutters incoherently*
