I recently decided to create a gaming review website. I picked the gaming niche because it is something I enjoy to write about. I plan to write reviews for certain games or gaming products, then like to an Amazon product (Amazon Associate). I just recently launched the website, about 3 days ago. So it is a little rough around the edges. My main plan is to find blogs and forums that relate to my keyword, then post high quality comments that link back to my website. This will give me an initial flow of traffic.

Does this seem like a plausible idea? Any tips or advice would be great!

Gaming sites can do really well, especially gaming review sites. Setting up reviews on the most recent games allows you to rank on Google more easily since it's fresh content and google ranks actuality pretty well. In terms of promoting your blog, try joining different groups on Facebook/Pinterest and make posts on your new reviews. Try to review games that are really new and are a hype. Twitter also can get you a good amount of visitors by simply through the right tags.

Your idea sounds just fine man. That's how you should start and if you love what you do, you have a higher chance of making it.

You should fix your categories, as your still using none at the moment, plus you should add permalinks, as you don't have them activated either. Maybe find another theme too, as that one doesn't do you any justice.

What do you feel is wrong with the theme? Honestly speaking, I actually paid quite a bit of money for it.

As long as the comments don't come off as spam and your website appeals to your target audience, I could see this working.

ok, i chceked the theme out in the preview from themeforest, its not too bad at all, you just haven't filled the site out and optimized your thumbnail images properly.

You should fill the site out, and get more decent reviews on it, you've barely got any content, so expecting visitors at this stage to be able to interact, or monetize is a no go.

Your journey seems to be quite different from the usual ones we see here. BTW, are there any products on amazon that are specifically related to some particular upcoming games? Or are you just promoting anything related to gaming?

You should get your categories setup, like action/strategy/sims/fps if thats the approach your taking, or 360/ps4/gameboy and then just write furious reviews for days straight until you get to 20 articles. Make sure the reviews are about 700 words to really give them a good chance. Then once you've done all this scale up your backlink building and post maybe 1 article a day in the rest of the time you have.

Your site should be ready for you to publish and go though. Make sure everything is setup so you don't have to tinker round the edges later. Get that bit done now.

Thanks for the advice man! I was planning to go back and add more details to my already published articles. I am also planning to post several more reviews before doing any backlinking.

And I am also quite aware my thumbnails need work. However, I am struggling to get them properly optimized. If you have any tips for that, I would love to hear them.

I want to mainly focus on upcoming games. However, I do plan to review gaming devices such as mice, headphones, etc...

Go to the owners theme, and right click on one of his thumbnail images, and then right click open in new tab. stick the image in photoshop to see the size, and then thats the size you should use for your featured image in your post.

The idea is good, pretty competitive but this niche works well on social media too. Be creative about it, there are a lot of gamers out there and a lot of methods to get them to your site

Th niche is evergreen and can only keep on expanding. Yo'll need to get some really good twists to viral methods in order to brand yourself as "rasonable" to keep visiting on at minimum a monthly basis. As for money, its endless as long as you provide high quality.
