I apologise if this has been asked previously but I am yet to see an answer for my question.
I have a three word domain name for my brick and mortar business. If the name is StonybrookLawyerOffice ,I rank well for Stonybrook Lawyer and even better for Stonybrook Lawyer Office(both first page of google ) but not at all for Stonybrook. How can I resolve this?
On another note how do I find out which page I am located for this search term without a manual search?
Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dante12.The backlinks for the websites for that KW on page 1 of the big G seem to be poor. Will good backlinks make ranking my site easier?

Yes, get a few good links and that should do the trick if its not much competition.

Also for rank tracking I use serpbook.com

Why the hell do you want to rank for "Stonybrook"?

You're wasting your time and money.

If you were looking for a law firm in Australia, would you type "Australia" into Google and hope for the best?!

The point would be to capture those eyeballs locally who search for Stonybrook only for another purpose and for my edification.

thanks asap1 for the advice and the link.

Building backlinks make rank you in top for stonybrook keyword and it take much time for getting that position. Check the backlinks of top 5 ranking sites and competition.
Work hard and slowly to achieve it.

so you are trying to rank for just the word "stonybrook"?
Lets look at page 1:
stonybrook.edu
stonybrookmedicine.edu
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stony_Brook_University
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stony_Brook,_New_York
stonybrookathletics.com
stonybrookschool.org
nysparks.com

yeah, good luck with that.

PS that's a useless keyword and it wont make you an additional penny.

Send a few links from your social pages with that anchor like: Twitter, LinkedIn, FB, etc

Which is pointless.

But do whatever floats your boat; it's your time, money and effort, not ours.
