Perhaps I over complicated my last thread about this, hence why no one replied.

Once your links have run their due course (24hours+ after posting on Facebook), what does everyone's page views look like in comparison to link clicks? is it 1 page view for 1 link click or more?

I use to get 3 page views for every link click but it's since come right down. Some other page admins I know still get close to 3 for 1 so I'm trying to work out if I've stuffed something up on my website.

There has got to be someone here that has some basic stats to share on this?

That totally depends on your website. If it's a video/image website then the avg views for each visitor will be more than 3 . If its just a crappy article website with no interesting topics, then it will be around 1.5 on avg.

Yeah, let me clarify. The articles I'm talking about have gone viral and have high engagement. It's not a spammy website, it's a large sports media website.

I think you're confusing what I'm talking about with bounce rate. I'm not talking about whether the user clicks on multiple pages once on site, I'm talking about the number of people who manage to hit the website for every link click. I'm looking at the page views for the specific URL that was posted on FB, not all page views in general.

In other words, if I click the link, then share it to my friends and 2 of them click on it... Then that would be 3 page views for my one link click. FB does not track my two friends clicks as "link clicks".

For a long time our reports showed that we were getting on average 3 page views for every link click. Now, despite having an identical bounce rate and identical engagement/reach factors, the ratio is a lot closer to 1:1 than 3:1.

Oh i see what you're saying now, but i never paid attention to this. Why is this important for you ?

Well, the reduced ratio means I'm getting less traffic. Where 100k link clicks would previously result in close to 300k page views, I'm now getting between 100-150k page views for the same content. This is drastically reducing the amount of potential earnings. I'm seeking an answer as to what the cause of this change is. I havent had 3:1 in over 12 months and I had originally put this down to some sort of change to the algorithm, however I've spoken with a couple of admins recently who are operating with 3:1 ratios still.

I found that my fb appid was not being set correctly in my HTML (this was the only difference I could find between my page and other admins), so in the last month or so I've fixed this up hoping this would play some part, however it hasn't made a difference.

If it wasn't for other admins still getting this ratio, I'd let it go, but I'm finding it hard to because thats obviously cutting my traffic in less than half.

Before you suggest I've been penalised or something, all of this is still with good link reach and good engagement (no drastic changes here).

Curious to know what your ratio is mate?

In terms of "share-a-bility" of posts, we use po.st which measures the viral nature of posts in terms of clicks. For example, it will show you X post was shares on your site X times and out of those X shares you receive 1000% the clicks ... so 1 share = 10 clicks = 1000% "virality". Some posts get much less. This basically helps you gauge if there is something going on with your content or what content will do better in terms of boosting your ratio as you mentioned before.
