I got 2 questions:
- "3. I check the antivirus sites to find out how 'flagged' there installers are. The less flags, the higher my install rate." - How you can check that, can be more specific on that procedure.

To answer your questions:
1. I obtain the sha1 sum of the file (sha1sum application by Microsoft) and go to for example Virustotal. This way I don't have to submit the file but can keep track of flagged executables
2. Yes, thats correct, a traffic exchange, I cloack them in order to run my campaigns - will post more on this later!

Could you explain how to build a tube website with 'out of date codecs'?

Well, I am not sure if you already have the tube site? What I do, is drop a cookie to check if I showed the user already an 'your codec / video player is out of date' message. If the cookie is not present, I either throw a jQuery popup, or a redirect to a stand-alone landingspage, prior to showing the requested video. If you could let me know where you at with your tube, I can for sure assist!

So what PPI network did you go for and is working best for you?

As mentioned, the network I use is on invite only, there isn't any point of posting it's name therefore. It isn't relevant for the methods either..

Someone got their panties all in a bunch. You don't have to use his network, think for yourself and find another network instead of expecting to be spoon fed so you can carbon copy the OP down to the last detail because you can't put in the effort yourself.

Well, to stop the questioning about it, the goal of my posting is to motivate myself through this journey, not to mention/promote a network. The network itself isn't open for registrations and most important, it is irrelevant for learning or following from my journey..

Days around eastern have been very good and busy for me. A new record of daily revenue through desktop installs was reached: $927! I came-up with a nice trick that I tried to use doing media-buying (cpc/cpm based). I made a list of 3-4 campaigns with a very high click-through rate, using 'advertisement spying'. I searched the networks offering these campaigns and signed-up. One of them was a "you got a secret message" campaign.

I made 5 different banners matching the campaigns look and build a so called pre-lander (and one to cloack, to have the advertisement agency approve me). On this pre-lander I did refer to the banner (theme) and stated the user was using an outdated Flash Player and therefore couldn't open the page. I offered a solution: my installer. This type of traffic is considered to be incentive, however, since most people really want to see "what they got", the conversion rate is quite high and the quality turned out to be good. I am now in the process of optimizing my banner spots, to see if this can be a steady method. Of course it is easy to clone the idea around any product / niche that needs a "fix".

On my tube side, I made a few (hardlink)exchanged and signed-up with plugrush, which is really boosting-up my traffic. I did note a lot of 'shitty' traffic sources are popping-up, however, it is possible to filter them out. Business is going so well lately that I am considering to hire my first staff.. jaj!

Business is still going steady. Not much to write about, just performing my day-to-days. I realized myself today that with no support I don't feel like writing huge amounts of explanations. Interesting as I thought the writing itself would stimulate me. I decided, since there are journeys enough in this place anyway to give another tip away.

HOW TO AVOID THE CHROME/FIREFOX LISTINGS?
Well. It requires a little more background on the subject of sandboxes and the 'what' they don't like. To start with answering: Google and Chrome, do not like applications that automatically perform an installation withouth any approval from the end-user. As an example, when you read the InstallPath EULA (Amonetize), you will figure out that they install a little system service at the first run, to help the user "stay up to date" with eventually interesting software. This can of course be explained as: to later install additional software and not pay affiliates.
Eitherway, the point is, that when such installer gets started, the first thing it does after the start-up is install the little service. While the user didn't approve anything like that.

A sandbox does download the executable right from the file-server. This is an important one to remember. Most of you guys are familair with the concept of cloacking. The answer to avoiding such listings here is actually coming from the same thought. As the sandbox downloads the file directly from the fileserver, there should be a 'handshake' between your installer and your tracking platform. I.e. to only execute the file if link1 is pressed (this can be a download link, redirecting to the fileserver). Get the idea?

As most of the public networks most likely won't help you to perform such implementation, I would suggest to build a preloader. Practically a little piece of software that does exactly whats outlined here above. If the download didn't come through the 'regular way' -> don't execute the file. A less pricy and less solid method, would be to host the file on your own server and use IPTables to block ranges such as Google and Amazon from accessing the server. Simply query the RIPE database to find out there ranges and block all traffic to your server!

Problem with ratio nowadays is really serious. Couple of years ago, with underground PPI programs you could reach easily 1:6, nowadays is almost impossible... Exe is not updated very often, there's problem with Chrome etc. Do you have any experience with your own installer? NSIS? Maybe it's good idea to use it (with offers) to increase the installation ratio?

My own installer isn't much more then what I call a preloader. It does obtain the latest version of an executable and runs it. The way I build it, it first checks a script on my server to see if it should or should not download the file. I build it together with the network I am in and it helps me to stay away from sandboxes..

Definitlly a good idea to use your own installer, as it gives you much more reporting, insights and monitoring possibilities. It also helps you to keep your "real installer" clean and update as many times you wish daily to keep it unflagged..
