Grabbed a used domain - Rate Domain's Stats

Hello,
I grabbed an expired domain and I would like some opinions if it's worth the try to rank up.
The stupid I am I did not check backlinks quality beforehand, so it seems that previous owner spammed a bit. OpenLinkProfiler found one bad link and I would try to disawov it if I try anything with this domain. Some website says it may be penalized by Google. Not surprising. But how hard is it to make it right?

So how hard is it to clean penalties? Is this garbage or something with potential? Domain itself is very revelant to the keyword I might use.

The active backlinks looks spammy. But which tools did you used?

You should look this domain well before spending money on it. But if it's me, i won't spare a seconds before buying this domain.

If there is a risk of being penalized I wouldn't bother, you might lose all you worked for all of a sudden, not worth it.

There is a high chance that the domain is already penalized. If I would start working on it I would do everything by the rules, so it should not be penalized again. That's if I can get it fixed first.

If you can check this, try seeing when the domain was active last and what it was used for, if it's used for link building or China/Russian articles, then the chance of it ranking is very low.

But if it was a normal site with government/organisation articles, don't worry, try the domain.

Most of the links ends with .com. Only one china domain. Further inspection reveals that the guy just went bat shit crazy and simple commented on articles managing to find a decent amount of ******** links. Website did it's purpose a few years ago, just one page with a form. The last year just an empty wordpress blog. Is this says that website was used for linking purposes or the previous owner tried to hard to rank the page on got penalized?

It's hard to say without looking through everything, but generally if they are used for link building it won't be an empty WP blog. (Would be articles full of links to obvious niche sites).

Since you already picked it up it might be worth testing out anyway, just to see what happens. I'd probably put an article or two with some easy long tails on there and see if it gets indexed/what happens.

You can take those results and figure out how you want to proceed from there.
