Google showing GARBAGE titles in serps...

Google ignoring my titles when displaying my site is SERPS and instead displaying truly garbage titles that make little sense.

I even re-wrote the titles about a month ago to try to get them to change this, but they only use my title on 1 keyword's SERP out of about 75 that I rank well for.

Any idea for a fix here? A lot of my titles have the website's name at the end, could this be making Google think they're all too similar? Or is there other potential loopholes?

Understanding your question, you must use Google Webmaster Tool wherein you will get the help with HTML improvements suggestion given by Google. Path: Search Appearence>HTML Improvements. Try and see if this can help you...

I think G is modifying your posts' titles based on the searchers' queries...

I once read that Google displays titles based on what they think is appropriate. It's possible that Google may have found your title to be inappropriate or irrelevant to the rest of the post, so they arbitrarily selected a title from your footer, headings, or throughout your article to provide more relevant results.

The past few weeks I've noticed how bad the SERPs look and I've noticed several bugs on Google Plus.

Just now I see the same Google Plus post reposted like 20 times on the same timeline.

I have a relative who studies SEO (just to understand it) and they mentioned something similar about the SERPs.

Hopefully their upcoming mobile update doesn't ruin the SERPs even further.

Yeah and I'm not saying this as my usual Google bashing, I do think they've lost quality lately. Which I hope other search engines seize upon to make the market more competitive.

You must analyze your site in Google analyst and then have a look over the problems or missing areas of you site. or changes must not have saved.

Well, if you are on Wordpress you should use Yoast SEO plugin or All-in-one SEO plugin

You own the website not the search results. Google will often change titles based on the searcher's query. You can make non-spammy titles, but it's no guarantee.
