Buy an Authority site + SEO package?

I've been looking through the Marketplace here and some of these offers look pretty solid.

Now I am considering spending $500 on an Authority site + SEO package.

Bold question: In your opinion, within how many months can I make that money back?
How much money should I spend on more content + more SEO every month?

What are your experiences with Authority sites, if I may ask?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No one will get you a definite response to that, it can go either way, make your money back in 2-3 months or never, no matter what you do for it. Sometimes it just doesn't take off, others are lucky enough and it pays off fast. Also, you will need to keep at it at least 4-6 month from my experience and continually add quality content to it so it might cost you a little more than that.

How fast can you get your investment back? That depends on the niche you choose and the content you post. Still it is quite uncertain. However, if you really work smart and get everything going on your favor, 2-3 months is a fair time to earn that much.

$500 as a budget is quite low, especially if you think of buying an Authority site instead of making one by yourself. You need to add some more to your budget for your promotion.

Haven't built any authority site, but $500 is enough for a niche site.

$45 - WP theme, if you don't have one yet.
$0.99 - Domain from Go Daddy discounted for the first year.
$100-ish - Articles. You can write them on your own or outsource. I've an awesome writer that I pay $4/500 words.
$70 - Diversified links package. I found some awesome BSTs here.
$200-ish - PBN links.
$72 - Hosting on a yearly plan.
TOTAL: 487.99
BALANCE: $12.01 - coffee!

Note that these ballpark estimates only. I don't spend $100 on articles because my niche sites only has around 20 articles. The longer ones, I write myself.

How much experience do you have with building sites and Seo? Personally I only recommend buying services if you're familiar with the process and you know what works, else you'll spend a lot of money on services that don't work as well as you'd expect.

as far as making you're investment back, it depends on comoetition of your niche, hard to say. If you can rank it say 2 - 3 months wouldnt be out of the question.

That amount for authority site is pretty low, as said by some posters. Also keep in mind that in many of the cases, sites get sold because there is some sort of issue with them, usually related to ranking or traffic.

Man, the questions you are asking are just not possible to answer...to many variables we have no idea what kind of authority site your buying, or how you will be monetizing or linkbuilding.
