CRaigslist ARRRGGGHH

The reason why your ad isn't showing up is because it's being ghosted. This can be for a number of reasons, it could be that your IP has been banned.

Have you tried to make some junk post, without a URL?

It could also be that your URL has been banned.

Try a junk post and report back as to whether or not it stays up.

I post on CL everyday, my posts go up, and most stay up.

Just posted something in the "casual encounters" section and it's up.
As for the url being banned, I have never entered a url. I simply put a post saying something like, part time work from home.

Okay dumb question, WTF is ghosting??

when you post an ad, and it appears as though it went through fine. but when you go to find it on craiglist it is not there.

some causes can be:

1)too many posts in certain length of time from an IP
2)" " " " from an email or craigslist account
3)ip address has been banned
4)account or email address banned
5)text of ad has been banned and added to a filter
6)text of subject " " " "
7)using words in your ad or header that are filtered because of content

find foolproof ways to work around such things and you are good to go

I have been experimenting with some public anonymous proxies and they work just fine. I have tried out several of them and they allowed me to post an ad. Is this the way to go or should I get a private proxy service?

I'm still trying to see how any of these apply. I know my ip is cool, thank God coz when I try to get in using Ghostsurf I can't. But I can post other stuff. I guess it's just something in the subject or text.

Back to work.

if its something in your text, use a thesaurus or dictionary to replace words each time you post it so it is slightly different each time. if they ban the complete text of an ad and you dont change it to pass the filters it will just keep getting ghosted. hope these points help you out some.

yeah someone posted the article rewriter thing on here, you can use that to make diff variations.

i got ghosted from kijiji a long time ago when i was promoting my business, they ghosted the business name lol, so i got totally screwed.

In the escort services section I would bet that hobbyists, providers and their "boy friends" are hitting your posts as spam.

The ones - dating services - that I have seen stay up the longest are the ones that post an ad with pic of a girl written like she is a provider and then forward the link in the reply.. but even those get marked as spam.

Blatant ads for dating services usually last about 2 minutes.

This is not my area of business but have done web work for E. services and have had this conversation a lot..

If there is one thing I know - it's escorts like the word free... I'm getting ghosted with legit ad posts in the jobs section.. I've changed IPs on my cable modem / router - tried dialup. Cleared out cookies and any other thing that could be put on my pc by them

Could they be looking for my fax number? That's about the only thing left from the original ad..

I tried making three posts yesterday and all of them have not appeared. I did not have a problem with it a couple of weeks ago. They must have recently started cracking down hard on spam. I guess I am just going to have to go with images instead.

I do a lot of posting on craigslist -- sometimes as many as 60 within a few hours across many cities. These have been for 2 whitehat recruitment sites owned by relatives whose businesses were failing. I've not gotten any deletions or ghosting yet, but I don't break the TOS either. Those posts get indexed on Google within an hour too.

It's working very well and is driving a lot of traffic, although it's not necessary for the user to even go to the site to apply for the position. So that endeavor has been a success.

I've had limited success in the past marketing other "offers". And now that I'm using my accounts to help my family's businesses and having success there, I'm not going to put my accounts at risk any time soon. Although I might open a new account in a while and try again.

Best,
Sine

Try posting your fax number this makethe numbers big and wright small letters between in a very light font color. this way cl doesn't see it as a phone number and people can only see the numbers and note the letters in between. exp: 1xd8mg0gm0 you need to change the letters to a light color, make the numbers big and bold

you can also use a picture and write everything you wan. upload it to photobucket and use it in the add. make sure you apload the picture with different file names

If this works, it will be short-lived imho.

CraigsList has banned src tags with photobucket.

I just write my ads in Corel and save them as a jpg.
I host the image on my own web sites.
So far no problem, but I don't run as many ads as I want to.

<a href="hxxp://my*site ,com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://my*site,com/MY ad.jpg" border="0"></a>

IMO, craigslist needs to monetize the service a bit and charge maybe $20 (or whatever)for an ad to be placed in ALL the venues. That might be the path they choose since they don't have a big money machine, at least on that's visible. Sorta like Google before AdWords.

here's an updated article regarding getting your ads to stick on craiglist,

I'm sure being a newbie blackhatter, I'll get hate messages against this but that article is garbage to me. One thing I don't believe in is trying to use million dollar words and taking the "long route" to explain things.

The person seems to do nothing but explain the article in a format that would make everyone think "Well damn, I can't do this." For instance: "Research for 1-2 hours to find the best selling articles." That's what the search feature is for, why should someone have to go through every article and "decide the characteristics." That's just more work and more reading.

I know searching and "skimming" the article should be enough to tell you what is successful or not. There is no real evidence that tells which is successful or not (because you simply don't get to view the statistics of how successful a post was) but you get my drift. Why go through each and every article just to see which are successful when in the end, you have no idea of knowing which is successful, which isn't.

All in all, I give the article 2 out of 10 stars, only because of the fact that they were right in place of saying to not post consistently and to wait for one to go live before posting the next.

Just my .02 cents

I tried to post car ads, after 1 hour, it was removed(flagged), I find out if you want to post in auto section, the price, model, year make, could not go too far than normal, otherwise, it will be banned or did not show at all. it is my test.

I know this is a noob question, but what is the easiest way to change your IP after every 5 or 10 posts?

Secondly, would it be correct in assuming that since google loves craigslist so much and tend to rank pretty quick that you could tailor a whole campaign towards lontail keyords using craigslist. What I mean is do some keyword research for you niche, determine some low competion phrases with descent traffic and post a ad on craigslist with your longtail keywords in the title of the post and slightly sprinkled in the ad itself. Then use some good o'l through away emails or .info redirects for affiliate program.
Would be nice to get some feed back on this from some fellas who've been at it for a minute.
Just curious, I often thought about using alexa and finding high ranked sites and find ways to ride their coat tails so to speak. Just a thought, maybe. But, maybe my opinion or theory is seriously outdated, i don't know. Anyone?
