I use blog postings to get traffic. As long as you post relevant information to the blog it is not spam.

I post comments on other blogs to build awareness towards my own blogs. It's not spam as long as my comments make sense.
That's also why I'm not using any automation tool.

Try Comment Hut's free version is you want to find good PR blogs and don't mind posting relevant comments. I started with the free version and bought the paid version that gave me about 50 times more blogs

That's a really cool tool, I use it too.

Commenting & answering other people's question on behalf of the blog gets you attention from not just the other people making comments but the blog owner as well.

The most well known software for blog commenting is Scrapebox. but lot of money and time should be invested.

Yes!! I have a routine set for commenting on blog post to have backlinks to the site. And according to me it is not a spam because as long as the comment is relevant then it is not a spam otherwise the owner himself delete the comment.
