Using old authority site backlinks as first tiers

Hey guys,

I've recently taken over the SEO for a new client, who's website has some backlinks from some big sites (newspapers, bbc.co.uk for example). The website isn't ranking that well at the moment, so I'm wondering if it's worth me building backlinks via GSA to these authority sites and use them as a buffer to pass the link juice on to the money site?

If they are contextual then yes.

A contextual link will pass the same juice even if its from a new site or google. The only different is you will get extra juice from the root domain.

But the juice that is passed from the tier links will be the same.

what if those authority sites find out that you are spamming their pages and they decided to remove your link or even remove the page/post from their website. You are playing with fire, i would recommend to build buffers to those links (with unique content) and then blast the living shit out of those buffers.

Giving these existing backlinks a bit of a boost is certainly not a bad approach to take, but spamming the hell out of them with GSA or other such tools is probably not the ideal approach and it may do more harm than good.

I'd consider building some decent quality web 2.0s with plenty of unique content for your 2nd tier, I'd do some social and bookmarking to those pages, I'd even look to do some guest blog posts with links to them (after all, which blog owner is going to worry about linking out to the BBC?). In essence, I'd treat them with as much care as I would the client's site - this is a low risk strategy with potentially big returns if the links on these authority sites can be effectively juiced up.

I do something similar with my own sites without any problems.

Spamming the heck out of them might not be a good idea but I don?t think these authority sites even notice a few hundred links dripped over a month or two.

Man, I recommend you to build diversified link profile. Use expert comments, forum posts, content marketing. You haven't to concentrate only on one method. Hard work!

Given that the amount of juice from a fresh web 2.0 is quite small, I'd stick to just the authority link regardless of the footprint (which there would be). Don't forget social to the authority site articles too. I don't use GSA so I can't really help you, but any way that you might link to your money site is safe to use for these authority pages too.

You can send almost any link type to your 2.0?s with good results.

But remember, you?re building something for the long term; thus it?s much better to send smaller amounts of links, on a monthly basis, than to send all the links at once.

Too many links in a short period can result in 2.0 deletions.

Smaller amounts, dripped over months, will not only ensure longer 2.0 live, it also helps to replenish lost links, to ensure that the juice keeps on flowing.

I personally tend to build backlinks from facebook.

I have a couple of facebook, and build domain branding.

Time went on and building to old pages is not good at all, so far those authority sites never check their pages and Google also won't penalize.
It's tough to say any answer until we ourselves test it.

I would ask to you post new links and do GSA for those new pages or posts to get rank.

GSA is not white hat technique, It will lead way to google jail and penalize you because it is inorganic SEO. We suggest you to do drip feed with the help of manual backlinks, as it will bring guaranteed success.

Be careful here. A lot of big sites pay attention to their internal pages being spammed. Especially now that you can buy editorials freely from almost any site on the net. I've had some big boy shit erased because of dumb shit like you're talking about. Revive it with some social shiz. That's all.

Avoid GSA. Social links (like buttons, shares, tweets) and maybe a FEW high quality PBN links.

completely agree with jstover77 , that's why i recon to atleast build a tier 1 to those links then use GSA.

Some sites do check incoming links. Take for example sbwire/releasewire, I subscribed to their monthly package, created some press releases, then bombarded them with gsa all-contextual links. Result - Almost all of the press releases I've done got flagged by sbwire/releasewire. So it is really important to have buffers before using GSA.
