Merging 2 million likes fanpage

Is it safe to merge a facebook page with 2 million likes?

The pages are with same name and I would really want to manage only one page instead two pages.
But I am afraid that I will end up with missing likes that weren't transferred. I know that there are some duplicate likes, but that's not what I am talking about.
I would do that without hesitation if I had a way to contact Facebook directly... but there's no way to contact them. Unfortunately the only thing I can do is to submit forms that no one will ever reply to them.

Did anyone here ever merged such big pages and can tell his experience?

I've tried it with a page with 500k likes and have had no issues. Everything went smoothly. You can only merge the smaller page into the bigger page, and the smaller page will cease to exist after the merger.
