I have 51 articles on a very specific niche (very small competition). I want to put these articles on a website, but I have no money to spend on SEO. Can I learn enough SEO in say a month to get a good number of visitors to my website just by using Google? Is it possible to get ranked on Google without spending any money? I know I can get visitors to my website by using social media, which is something that I do with another niche, but I have no time for that. So, my question is specific to SEO.

Yes if you do the the offsite SEO manually and write all the content.
You should start with Web 2.0 ( if you don't know what is it, don't ask search it first )

there should be big notice when creating thread that if you asking question add big ?????????

Nothing. SEO needs money. If you want it fast. SEO without money to buy the media, it is very slow and requires a lot of time to learn.

If you have a niche, just shoot the targeted keywords, it is my opinion

To rank a keyword at Google, you need 1 - 6 months in link building effort then you will see the top ranking. This depends on competition level of a keyword.

If you are impatient (you want to get traffic from Google quickly), maybe the SEO is not the answer for you. You need to try other free traffic methods. e.g: forum marketing, blog commenting, social media, etc.

If you dont spend money on SEO then be prepared to wait a little longer to get tangible results

Publish your articles first and add on your website on popular social media sites. Wait a while and chances are that your pages would start attracting visitors immediately.

Hello Mate!!Please use Question mark.
There are some simple tricks which do not ask money as Get your landing page and do the following tasks as Social Bookmarking,Social Media,QNA,Forum which are very easy and you can tell the world about your website.
Good Luck!!

Why are you not try social networking site you can get enough traffic for there !

So your saying you just want to create the website, publish the articles and then what? Nothing. How long will that take to rank? Is that the question? Are you open to creating backlinks manually? Just not social media? Is that correct.

If the competition is very small, you should have already posted these articles, on Blogger or WP. Surely, they're all unique and original? If so, you should let Google index and crawl your site. You will receive Google traffic, without spending anything, as long as the competition is small, as you say :).

Lets apply some common sense. Its a new website. Yes, you have some articles.
Are they quality or just some word stuffed generic articles? If you do post them are you going to apply the proper tags and headings? Is the site layout responsive for both mobile, tablets and PC owners? Do the images have descriptions? Think if I were to visit you're site what would keep me coming back? There are millions of websites out there. What is it that is so special about that I have to come back and check for new stuff/articles/news etc..
You should be focused on making it a experience someone will enjoy and remember. If you have what people are searching for then the rest will come. Don't concern yourself with links and all that in the beginning, a good website attracts those. I have failed many of times and put in countless hours all in the wrong places. Its all those experiences that drive my success and the fact that I can never learn it all even though I will try. Fall 10 times get up 11.

Gathering manual links can be very effective.
All this can be done without spending a dime (as long as the niche itself has little competition).

Without invest money on SEO, you need some more time to get return so its better to invest some money and you will get return asap.

Hands down the most simplest way I'd be able to put things without going into a long highly detailed rant no one bothers to read (even though the information is spot on).

If I got no reason to just go to your website other than reading a article or viewing a picture, and your site doesn't spark me to remember it in some odd way (educational is hard but rather mke it a brand or something), then forget NOT spending money on Google and go play with Adwords (because unlike SEO (SEO is not $3 or $500 more like $1,000 for any monthly quality work in micro niches that drives results not trash) it only takes $100 (you can use a voucher too) to spend).
