Interesting Tumblr Stats

Nice data. I used to follow people manually when I first started, now I have created an AutoHotKey bot that does the following for me, same goes for the unfollowing. I get a +20% follow back on average, because I follow accounts that I found on the notes which are very active. The problem is that I have to manually log in each account and start the script, which takes about 5 mins for each account, so I can't have 75 accounts, this would be impossible to handle, also I don't have any money to spend on proxies.

Can you tell me how exactly do you control 75 accounts?

I wrote my own PHP scripts on Linux to do it.
By the way. I've moved on from NSFW blogs. Too many accounts getting banned and I hadn't even monetized them. I've been running SFW blogs now for a little bit and out of 104 accounts, none have been terminated. Its tough to start from scratch but its a better long term strategy.

wow super interesting stuff, I'm just getting into tumblr so this was a great post to see right off the bat. I'm a developer as well, and I had already thought of the technical details on a follow bot but your technique is really nice.

Also, any reason you have not monetized yet?

I'd def recommend using the API for all Tumblr actions if you have the know how. Its so easy if you have even a small knowledge of PHP/Linux. I have SFW accounts that have been running for over 100 days that I foll 200 a day, and unfollow 200 a day after 10 days, and Like 900-1000 posts a day from day one with no issue. Tumblr don't have any API limits (unlike Twitter). I even did over 150,000 API calls in a little over 24 hours no problem from 1 IP address. So they don't seem to care about how "aggressive" you are, they don't seem to care how you use the API, and you don't need to worry about all that "pretending to look human" rubbish, you don't need a phone verified account, and the Tumblr PHP API uses tiny amounts of server resources, and is very bandwidth friendly. Mind you, I only run 1 account per private IP.

I haven't monetized yet because I'm working hard to get to 400 accounts on Tumblr and 400 on Twitter. The quicker I get accounts up, the sooner they'll grow. So I'm just taking a phased approach to the whole thing. I only finished my Twitter "bot" a few days ago so I'll have all my accounts up and running ASAP and then monetize. BTW. I tried the same method using the Twitter API and got my Twitter app suspended within a few days on all my test accounts, so I'm using CasperJS instead and now trying to work out how "aggressive" I can be on Twiiter.

By not monetizing them, do you mean just not putting a CPA or Affiliate link, or your not even putting a link to a personal website.

No links at all. Just building.
What about adding your tumblr link to the content you post?
So that you get tons of backlinks to your tumblr blog when other users reblog your content.
I doubt tumblr will trip off you posting their links LOL
