Domain valuations seem wacky

I was under the impression that a domain's age had a big impact on its overall value, but EstiBot is valuing my new domains the same as my aged domains. I have lots of domains and all of the ones I tested against each other were all very similar in all other important factors except for age.

I've been paying significantly more for the aged domains (possibly out of ignorance) than the new ones. EstiBot is supposed to be the most accurate free valuation tool so I'm confused. Does age matter with a domain's resale value?

Thanks for the reply brother. I thought the valuations seemed really weird when I was comparing them to others I had tested. Maybe I need to pay for a real appraisal, but Sedo charges $99 per domain and I'm not going to pay that for a whole list of domains.

And Sedo's $99 appraisal ain't a great deal either. I bought a few, years ago, for several domains I wanted to get rid of and they sent me one of the reports which just reeked of BS. I contacted them and they were arrogant as can be. I told Sedo to go .... themselves and never did business with them again.

What are you using the domains for?

If you're using them for PBNs or as money sites, you're going to want to assess the metrics of the domain (DA / PA / TF / CF etc, Moz Rank, Dom Age etc). Then compare what a similar domain sells for on godaddy auctions. That will give you a good idea of what they are worth.

If you're going for brandable domains / keyword rich domains (like stockbroker.com or something), it gets a lot harder to value. You might be able to get an idea from godaddy auctions again or check out flippa.

From what I recall, meathead had an appraisal thread opened here, I'm too lazy to check if it's still live
I believe he definetly has the most experience when it comes to domain appraisal.

Probably the most active domain name forum out there is namepros.com. They have a section for free domain appraisals provided by other members.

It's good for getting free domain appraisals by humans (rather than automated tools like estibot).
