So far, I've successfully created one campaign with 0.01$ CPC which lasted about a month (it had around 11% CTR), but I can't replicate it. I have had many other campaigns since then and some of them even reached 13%-14% CTR, but they costed me like 0.04$-0.07$ per click.

This means than my other campaigns costed 4-7 times as much as my previous campaign, even though it had a better CTR. So is there anything else I can do besides CTR to decrease my cost?

According to Facebook Help, the ad costs are determined by auctions, which means saturated target audience will cost more. By that logic, I should broaden my audience. But by doing that, it would decrease my CTR. Are my campaigns a lost cause even though I managed to get 13%-14% CTR?

Are you targeting the same niche?

If not...

Is your niche very specific? If not, broaden it (if you think the likes will still be as good). Try and see. Just keep testing different campaigns. Keep in mind though, some niches tend to get trendy, maybe your niche is trending atm?

1.) 11% your CTR is great!
2.) anything under CPC 0.1usd is stillgreat!
3.) Im also interested what is the "why"...

The facebook ads are for a Clickbaiting site (like Upworthy/BuzzFeed/ViralNova). Since I have different types of articles the niches are technically different.

I monetize through AdSense so CPC under 0.1 USD isnt that proifiting.

1. Is that click to website?, or all clicks. Some of my ads got 30% CTR, but many of the clicks are just "Post Likes".
2. $.01 / click is cheap if you target US or any first tier countries.
3. You won't make money from adsense with Facebook paid ads directly. Facebook ads are for seed marketing. You make money only when the content go viral. That's exactly what buzzfeed/upworthy are doing. The chance of a piece of content going viral is about 1-10% at best.

i dont know this. i can get .02-.05 CPC and its working great

wow, man i've seen some video how you can get it down too 1c or 2c cpc but i never got that low. my min lately is 25c-30c

all my campaigns are .01c around 15 to 20% ctr, using my own custom audience.

How ever I would like to increase my reach:(

I have seen some people get $0.01 CPC. However some people say that we should provide a higher CPC first and then Facebook will lower down the CPC. Is that true?

I dunno, FB is real funny.

I've had ads that have 20% CTR, but the eCPM is high so I end up paying around $0.04 per click

Then I make the same adset / ad and the eCPM is lower (like half) and I still end up paying like $0.04.

It's like their system is set up to not give you TOO cheap clicks when targeting US. That's just how I feel.

Sorry for late response.

1. I'd say 99% are clicks to website
2. Yup, but I mostly get 0.03-0.07
3. That make sense. So they basically run a bunch of campaigns to kickstart their posts, and hope that one will go viral and profit from it?

I still didn't understand on how do you make profit out of it?

You are running fb ads campaign for buzfeed, upworthy articles then how do you make money out of it? Upworthy and buzzfeed aint paying anything if you bring some traffic to their site. Sorry for my ignorance, I am very new to this stuff. I would appreciate help. :)

He never said he was running ads for them. He's running ads for his own sites.

Aha, Thank you French boy. So he is using it for his own site where he is converting them to profit using adsense. But it could be that people don't even click on the ads in his website meaning he is loosing money?

We have seen things really fluctuate the last few weeks....we do the sa me thing and some weeks we get massive reach for 1 cent or less and the other weeks the costs creep back up and then down the next week. Testing.....tweaking and always looking for that next viral post is the key.

Targeting will really make the difference. If your cc doesn't go to 2 and 1 cent within 2 days your ad isn't good enough or your targeting is too broad.

The biggest challenge is keeping ad accounts for more than a month without it getting killed.

You can make a heck of a lot more money building a list and promoting clickbank or CPA products rather then using Adsense. Even at .10 CPC, your CPL would only be around .30c. Focus on earning more per click and you'll game the system much more easy.

You're doing better than 80% of ads if you get $0.02 a click (targeting US).
