How to trace Backlinks using just google ?

I'd like to know how to trace backlinks using just google ?
I know there's some tools there that can do the job , but how does these tools work ?

I would assume you would just use the webmaster tools? Of course there are much more effective tools out there. U have to sign up and verify website ownership with google webmaster tools

Actually , I'm a developer & I'm trying to develop some tool to trace backlinks , I can't find a right Formula !

Here are five tools I have found there are Yendex Webmaster tools, SEOkicks, Google's Fusion Tables, Open Office Calc ,Gephi.

I want to make a tool in which user can trace his site's backlinks !
the problem is I can find how to trace backlinks without using sites like you mentioned
anyone knows how these sites work ?
if not , I think I'll just integrate one's API into my tool !

If I understood your question, one way is to write in google search, link:"yourwebsite" to check some links. Another way is to write info:"yourwebsite". However, these methods don't show nearly all the links that link to your site, but it is one easy method.

You can get some of them buy just typing in "yourcompetitorsurl.com"

Also try Ahrefs or OpenSiteExplorer.

Not possible to find all competitors backlinks using Google alone, but you could find some by using bare urls and brand name of competitors.

If you need to build a service similar to ahrefs, Moz or even your own search engine like Google, you'll have to build your own crawler.

Ahrefs will have several crawlers running across clustered servers and their spiders will crawl through the world wide web and save the link's data.

You can Start with Apache Nutch and Apache Solr :

http://lucene.apache.org/solr/

Well I googled that & as far as I know it's just a tool to keep your data organized , it's not a tracing tool !
I think you should google it maybe I'm wrong.

well , it didn't work with me , results are just page with word : links , yoursite , com !!

Well one thing I have noticed with either putting link:yoursite.com or links:yoursite.com is that it shows a number of links not actually linking to the web URL you put in but other websites with similar names. I find searching the plain "http://yourdomainhere.com" with these marks on it " " will find all places where you have put URLs plain links and can also find anchor text because it is written in the page.
